１９９０年から９１年にかけてロンドンのロイヤル・アルバート・ホールでなんと２４回も公演したときの演奏からＣＤ２枚分に凝縮された内容です、したがって８０年代の集大成として最高のライブを聴かせてくれています、
ディスク１のトラック１-４が４人編成、５-８が６人編成のブルース・バンド（Robert Cray, Buddy Guy参加）、ディスク２の１-４が９人編成、残りは１０人編成バンド＆オーケストラ、という豪華さです、
ほとんどのファンが６人バンドにもっとも興味があると思われ、ファン心理としてはこの部分だけで２枚組を発表してくれたら、とちょっと残念です、

エリックのキャリアとしては本作の次にアンプラグドの大成功がおとずれ、このライブで過去をいったん総括したことが９０年代以降の充実につながったように思われます、

このアルバムはもともと「For Face Of Eric Clapton」という題名で1990年のRAH18夜連続公演からの抜粋で発売される予定だったのですが
クラプトンの「演奏内容が不十分である」という意見を尊重し、1991年のRAH24夜連続公演の音源を追加して改めて「24 Night」として発表されました。
たしかに13分にも及ぶ「Old Love」や「Wonderful Tonight」の演奏はかなり素晴らしいものですがやはり選曲に少々疑問が生じます。
当時最新のスタジオ・アルバムであった「Journeyman」からの曲が多すぎる気がする(5曲)しこれはセールス上仕方なかったのだろうか？
個人的にはシングルのみに収められた9人編成バンドによる「Cocaine」や「I Shot The Sheriff」、
あとは公開されているライヴテイクの少なさと当時のアレンジの格好よさを考え「Layla」を収録して欲しかった。
それにブルースバンドの演奏ももっと充実を・・・と言い出したらきりがなさそうです。
いっそのことオーケストラ・ナイトのライヴを丸ごと収録してもよかったのでは？
この時期の曲はみんなアレンジが感動的なものが多くカットするには惜しいです。

豆知識としてこのアルバムに収録されている9人編成バンドのライヴ収録日は1991年2月18日ということになっていますが
実際のところ18日から録られたテイクは「Pretending」の前半部分と「Bad Love」のみです。
「Pretending」は後半のギターソロ部分のみ2月15日、「Old Love」は9人編成バンド最終日である2月19日、「Wonderful Tonight」は2月14日となっています。
ただ映像収録されたのは18日のみとなっているのでこのアルバムと同時発売されたビデオと演奏を聴き比べるのも面白いかもしれません。

　Claptonの魅力がぎゅっと詰まった素晴らしい作品である。このアルバムには、彼のこれまでの名曲（Cream時代、Derek & Dominos時代も含む）が、惜しみなく披露されている。また、彼に集まるかのように、Buddy Guy、Robert Cray、Jimmie Vaughanといった、Blues界の実力者が参加。そして、最後にはMichael Kamen指揮によるOrchestraをバックに従えての演奏である。録音状況も素晴らしく、各Musicianの実力云々を超えた、気持ちの入ったLiveである。名門、The Royal Albert Hallでの録音であり､ここには何か特別な気品･名誉･誇りのようなものを感じさせられるのだが、これも大きくClaptonに何か影響を与えているのではないだろうか。
　Claptonファンのみならず､全音楽ファンに聞いてもらいたい作品である。本作のVideoやDVDもあるので、是非ともそちらもCheckしてもらいたい
