映画に伴って作られた架空のバンドデビュー作。小林武史がサウンドを固め、Charaがそこに個性を注ぎ込む。そういったアルバム。全編、個性的な楽曲がそろい、シングル曲Swallowtail Butterfly~あいのうた~のようなキャッチーな楽曲もあれば、ジャジーな楽曲、静かにパンキッシュさを持つ楽曲など、多彩な内容となっています。

バンドとしては企画物に分類されるのだろうけれど、この一枚を聴くとどうしてもYEN TOWN BAND名義でなくてもいいから、Cahara、小林二人の合作をもっと聴いてみたいと思わずには居られない一枚。

MONTAGE ~YEN TOWN BAND~

　岩井俊二監督の『スワロウテイル・バタフライ』の中でCHARA演じるグリコが結成した架空のバンドからこの音楽は生まれたという感じです。
YEN TOWNが無国籍という設定の中で生まれたので、音楽も日本語、中国語、英語と多才な言語が使われていて、聴いていて不思議な感じになります。

また、唄い手のCHARAの独特の甘い声と、優しく、悲しい響きからも不思議さが感じ取れて曲全体に魅了されるといってもいいような感覚に陥る感じも受けます。
詩も全体的に優しさ、せつなさを唄い上げているように思われ、CHARA＝グリコの母性的な愛情をも感じ取れる部分も見つけだすこともできます。

優しい気持ちになった時などに聴くと、共感できるものがあったりして、深い部分で、ゆったりできたりするかもしれません。

　シングル『スワロウテイルバタフライ~あいのうた~』をイメージして聴くと初っ端からいきなり重たく厚いバンドサウンドに裏切られます
　かと思えば、シングル曲を挟んで後半はかわいかったり涙が出そうに切なかったり、凄く温かかったり‥‥チャラ演じるグリコの舌たらずな英語の発音がまた魅力的です。

　映画を見ていない人でももちろん楽しめると思いますが、映画を見てから聴くと挿入歌として使われていない曲でも不思議と映画のワンシーンを思い出させてくれたりして、また違う楽しみ方が出来ると思いますよ！
