ラーズ唯一のアルバムの日本のみの再発盤。
タイトル通りボーナストラックでシングルB面曲等が収録されています。
現在では日本のみの企画盤「ゼア・シー・ゴーズ~シングル・コレクション」に収録されています。
解説等に拘らなければ、輸入リマスター版の「The La's [UK Bonus Tracks] [FROM UK]」の方が
音質的には良いと思います。

９０年にこのアルバムが発売された当時の衝撃はかなりのものだった。基本的にはキンクス、ビートルズなど６０年代の英国のロックに影響下にあり、音楽的には斬新だったとは思わなかったが、とにかくメロディがよかった。シンプルで綺麗なメロディ、美しいメロディ。当時、毎日のように聞いていた記憶がある。

さすがに、今はそんなことはないが、それでも年に数回聴いている。すでに、当時の衝撃はあるわけもなく、やっぱりいい曲、いいメロディだな、という感想しかないが、「there she goes」はやはり名曲である。

アルバムも１枚きりだし、フロントマンのリー・メイヴァースが遠い世界にいってしまったこともあり、とかく伝説のバンドといわれるが、今、若い人がこのアルバムを聴いても衝撃を受けることはないかもしれない。でも、それは、今の若い人がビートルズを聴いて、いい曲だなとは感じても衝撃を受けないのと同じなのだろうと思う。いい曲、いいメロディ、このアルバムはそれでいいのではなかろうか…。

ボーナストラックとしてシングルＢ面などが８曲収められているのは貴重である。ただ、個人的にはオリジナルアルバムは３５分という短い収録時間もよかったと思っていたのと、アルバムとしての統一感がなくなるので、ボーナストラックを別にして２枚組みにして欲しかった。

何が気に入らないのか、リー・メイバーズってば買うなって言ってたな。確か。当時ものすごい勢いだったプロデューサー、スティーブ・リリイホワイトのアレンジが気に入らないのかそれとも他に理由があるのか、メンバーはミックスダウンにも立ち会っていないとか。

+8という言葉が示すように、オリジナルザ･ラーズにボーナストラックが8曲もついてるかなりのお徳盤。ファンの方もそうじゃない方もぜひ。

ポップセンスあふれる傑作中の傑作。
この一枚をリリースしてくれただけでもリー･メイバーズには感謝、感謝。
