このベストからジョンのアルバムを買っていったのですが、今思うとちょうどいい選曲をしている気がします。イマジンやウーマンなど誰もが聞いたことのある名曲が（もれなく）入っている上に、このあとオリジナルアルバムを買ってみたくなるような、あまり知られていない名曲も選ばれています。個人的にジャケットも気に入っているので◎。

これと『イマジン』（一番聴きやすくて好きなアルバムです）の２枚から聴き始めるのがいいと思います。私は『ジョンの魂』を先に聴いたのですが、入りやすさでは『イマジン』の方が上だと思います。

恐らく、このベスト盤に興味を示されるのは、ジョン・レノン初心者に近い方々が多いのでは、と思いますので、そんな皆様に対しまして明言させて頂きます。どうしようかなぁ、と迷われているのなら、ぜひ、購入すべきです。聴かれた前と後では、人生観すら変わる可能性があります。ジョンのソロ・ワークが、まんべんなく網羅されています。昔ながらのファンには、若干その選曲に疑問の余地もあるでしょうが、「入門篇」としてはベスト・チョイスと思います。ジョンの音楽は、シンプルです。ゴテゴテした装飾や、ドラマティックなアレンジや、バカテクもないし超高音質でもありません。でも、凄い・・・なぜか、心に響く・・・甘ったるいスタンダード・ナンバーが、ジョンが歌うと、「心をわし掴みされ、抉り取られる様な」ロックになる。
愛しい女性や子供を唄にすると、全世界の女性達や子供達への、この上ない賛歌と慈悲に満ち溢れ・・・。なぜかは、わかりません・・・。「ジョン・レノン」だからなのでしょう。聴いた人にしか、判りません。だから、聴いてみてください。「良質な音楽は、生きていく糧にすらなる」という事が、体感できます。

イマジンで始まるレノンの優しい歌声と，歌詞は最高にハッピーな気分になれます．きっと他者に対する想像力こそが，平和と幸福につながると信じていたのではないでしょうか？彼なりの世界観を感じることができ，共感を感じることのできる1枚です．
