　レゲエ界の大スター(だった)ジミー・クリフ、そんな彼の最も脂が乗り切っていた時期の代表作が、まとめて聴ける便利なベスト盤だと思います。
　
　カリブ海のごとく澄み切った美しい彼の歌声は、同時に力強さも兼ね備えていて、唯一無比の個性を放っています。シンガーとして、卓越した才能を持つジミーですが、作曲の才も非凡であり、彼の作る楽曲は、当時のレゲエ・シーンでは、一線を画する洗練さを有しています。しかもその楽曲群は、ストリートの音楽であるレゲエとしてのタフさ、生命力がいささかも失われておらず、普遍的な輝きに満ちています。
　
　しかし、ジミー・クリフに対する一般的な評価は、不当に低く残念に思います。出来るだけ多くの方々に、この偉大なアーティストの才能に触れて欲しいものです。
