かたやピックをほとんど使わない独特の奏法で有名なブレット・ガースドと、かたやピックをまったく使わない両手タップの雄・TJヘルメリッチという2大ギタリストによる第２弾です。１９９４年にシュラプネルレコードの兄弟レーベル、レガートレコードから発売されています。バックにはベースにゲイリー・ウィルスという豪華な布陣です。

前作「Quid Pro Quo」でもなかなかのフュージョンサウンドを披露してくれた２人ですが、この作品で聴かれる音もその延長線上にあります。特に1曲目の「Horizon Dream」での２人のソロは妙に退廃的な美しさを内包しています。おもにヘルメリッチがソロを担当し、ガースドがフォローするという展開ですが、はじめ聴いたときはどっちが誰なのかはまるでわからないと思います。「これは誰」というように想像しながら聴いてみるのも面白いと思います。私はGarsedの教則ビデオを見て初めてわかりました。

しかしながら、このアルバムでの聴きどころは前半まで。後半はガースドが１曲、ヘルメリッチが２曲で、なんとボーカルをとっていて、ギタリストのアルバムを期待して購入した人間の興味を半減させてしまいます。それが２人ともけっこう歌が上手いのでかえって腹立たしく感じられてくる始末。曲自体も平凡なロックという感じで、特に特筆するべき点はありません。ボーカルなんかにウツツを抜かすなら、もっとフレーズを聴かせてくれよ、と感じたファンも多いのではないでしょうか？興ざめする後半部分はさておいても、前半部分だけでも聴く価値は大いにありです。

１９９４年リリース・・・ＬＥＧＡＲＴの倒産（？）で、超絶レアになっている超絶技巧ギターデュオ（笑）のセカンドアルバム。ギターバトルをイメージしてしまいますが、基本的に楽曲重視の仕上がりでさほど激しくはありません・・・当然ながら出てくるギターソロは、凄まじいですが（笑）。私的にこのアルバムを買ったのは、ＭＶＰ２でのブレットガースド（Ｇ）のプレイを聴いたからでした・・・ぶっ飛びましたね！！「すげえ、誰？」、「ネルソン？！」・・・「信じられない」てな感じでした。メンバーは、ブレットガースド（Ｇ）・ＴＪヘルムリッチ（Ｇ）・ゲイリーウィリス（Ｂ：めちゃくちゃ嬉しい参加！）・ボビーロック（Ｄｒ）・ポールマーコヴィッチ（Ｋｅｙ）・リッチーガルシア（Ｐｅｒ）・・・１１ではブレッド・１０＆１２ではＴＪがボーカルを披露、巧いんだなこれが（笑）。参考迄雑誌切り抜きのレヴュー：「前作は比較的ロック色が強かったが、本作ではフュージョンよりの少し静かめのサウンドを主体にしており、曲そのものはそれほど派手さは感じられないものの、随所に飛び出すハイテクプレイはさすがの一言。フレーズの組み立てもこの手の音楽の見本のような抜群の巧さがある。」是非、「ＱＵＩＤ　ＰＲＯ　ＱＵＯ」と一緒にリイシューして欲しいものです・・・聴きたい人が、マイナーなＣＤながら結構いますよ！！
