彼の全カタログの中最も異色の内容で、数年前ようやく再発された作品です。中身は彼自身のエレピとアコースティックピアノに大胆なオーケストレーションが絡むもので、エヴァンスはアコースティックでなければならない！というジャズ･マニアが多かったことから比較的冷遇されてきたかわいそうな作品と言えます。

　しかし、これまで埋もれていたというのが信じられないぐらいの奥深い響きを持った名作。エレピこそ弾いているものの、彼自身のリリカルなフレージング、ピアニズムは健在だし、そこに絡む優雅かつ哀しげなオーケストレーションの美しさは絶品の一言。エヴァンスとしてはこれまた異色のボッサ･ナンバーもあり、そのピアノとオーケストラの完璧な調和は、あのアントニオ･カルロス･ジョビンの名作｢波｣に匹敵するといってよいほどです。これを機会に正当な評価をされることを希望します。

傑作か駄作かなどの評価はこの作品にはあえて必要ありません。美しいものは美しい！それ以上でもなくそれ以下でもない。特に１曲目や４曲目のメロディーの美しさは絶品。Luiz Ecaの名曲「Dolphin」のカヴァーはまるでJAZZ BOSSAのようなライトできらびやかな演奏に心を奪われます。聴き終えた後に不思議な温もりを感じる素敵な一枚です。

フェンダーローズの癒される音＋ビルエバンスの内面からにじみ出てくる熱、とでもいうのでしょうか。一曲目のテーマに移る所なんか最高です。涙が出そうになります！
