本作のよさは、ジミ・ヘンドリクスという人のキャリアを大まかながらカバーしていることと、全曲エディ・クレイマーによるリミックスがなされていることだ。
収録時間も73分、オリジナルアルバムから最も正統的なバージョンを最大限採用している。
その意味ではジミの意向を最も汲んだベストアルバムということができるし、入門用としてもかなりのボリュームと言える。
ファンからは「Are You Experiencedが入ってない」という指摘もあろうが、最後に唯一ライブ音源である「アメリカ国歌」まで入れる気の使いようだ。
そう、ジミの代名詞となり、ストーンズ、U2など自分のコンサートを盛り上げるために使った、あの曲はウッドストックで神懸かり的に演奏された1回こっきりのものなのだ（他のライブ音源もあるが、明らかに違うテンションだ）。

実際、本作に収録されている20曲をじっくり聴けば、ジミヘンという人の代表作、そして才能と革新性を知ることができる。
尚、オリジナル・ライナーノーツには各曲のメンバー、録音日時など細かいデータも記載されている。

贅沢すぎるベストだ。１曲目のPurple Hazeから
深みに嵌り、2 Fire, 6 Stone Free, 7 Crosstown Trafic
で陶酔、Voodoo Childで宇宙の無重力を感じて
Bold As LoveとAngelを聴けば心は澄み渡ることだろう。
If 6 Was 9を聴けば迷路に迷い込んで・・・・・・・・
書くとキリがないよ。聴いてね＾＾

　僕がBeatlesを追いかけていたとき、彼は、全く異次元の人間だった。ただ、当時の「ローリングストーン」誌などでギタリストの特集が組まれると、必ず、ダントツの一位だった。
　正直に告白するけれど、その凄さについては、当時は全くわからなかった。
　齢５０年も重ねてきて、何千枚ものＬＰやＣＤを聞くようになると、ジミヘンが如何に凄いか、言葉ではうまく言い表せないが、よく分かる。
　ただ、このＣＤでもリミックスがされているようで、ノイズを消すくらいなら結構だが、オリジナルをいじるのは止めてもらいたいと思った。
