　1998年10作目。前作「This Strange Engine」はホガースの幼少期を描いていたため、どこか懐かしさがあったが、本作は一転して、徹底的にモダンなサウンドになっている。邦題は「レイディエーション」。放射線という意味で、イントロに続く「Under the Sun」のテーマである。歪んだギターによる短いハード・ナンバーで ♪僕たちは放射線の下で転げ回り、愛し合う と歌っている。

　離婚を描いた「These Chains」がシングル。同じテーマでもFish時代のユーモラスな「Punch & Judy」とは随分違う。パートナーが去り、静まりかえった室内を描く。♪鎖は切れ、全てが崩れ去った と歌う。
　彼女に会うために戻ってきた彼を待っていたのは留守番電話の声だった「Answering Machine」は乾いた笑いを誘うナンバーで、Promo用に配布された。一発屋をテーマにした「3 Minutes Boy」も絶望感ある風刺曲。いずれもGood。

　「Cathedral Wall」に至り、遂に主人公は全てに疲れて、眠りに逃げたようである（苦笑）。繊細なヴァースと、やたらラウドなコーラスが不気味だ。ドライな現代社会を歌う各曲は商業向きではないが、クオリティは結構高い。また、割とキャッチーで、音像は代表作「Brave」を思わせるところも。

　日本盤ボーナスは「The Space...」と、RADIOHEADのカヴァーの、共にアコースティック・ライヴだ。

前作のThis Strange Engineよりもよりモダンサウンドになっているアルバム。良い面は曲がわかりやすく、Radiohead系のサウンドが好きな人にとってはお気に入りのアルバムになるかも知れない。悪い面は、今までのMarillionサウンドからさらにかけ離れており、昔のMarillionが好きな人、つまり純粋なプログレッシブロックを追及している人は違和感を感じるかもしれない。

個人的には好きなアルバムで2~6曲目まではかなりいい曲だと思う。ただ後半はあまり良くなく、とりあえず入れておいたみたいな曲が多い。だが、前半の曲はそれをカヴァーするだけの良さがあるので総合的に見てこのアルバムは5つ星。後期Marillionのアルバムを初めて買う人なら、このアルバムを買っておけば間違いないと思う。このアルバムはMarillionの歴史において最後の日本版（以降、日本においての契約が消える）で、いつまで製造されるか分からないので、ボーナストラックやレビューに興味がある人は早めに買っておいたほうがいいかも。
なおこの日本版にはボーナストラックとしてThe spaceとFake Plastic Trees(Radioheadのカヴァー)のライブ版が入っている。

多分、これが国内発売されて彼らの最後のアルバムだったと思う。

この時期、既に彼らはポンプ・ロックなどといった狭いジャンルからは解き放たれ、音楽的には極めて貪欲に色々なものを吸収し、抑制の効いたセンスよいサウンドで聞かせる、といった時期に入っていて、本作もその流れにあるといえる。

質的には勿論問題なく合格点。しかし、どうしても個人的には扇情的な心揺さぶるメロディが彼らにはほしいわけで、その意味では、ややそのあたりが足りない気もする。
