いまだに聞いている名作です。私はこのアルバムが一番マニックスの切なさが出ていていまだにお気に入りです。やっぱマニックスをきくならこれでしょう＾＾

デビュー作で2枚組のレコードを出し、No.1を取り、解散すると宣言した彼らにとっては、
2枚目を出すのは抵抗があったと思いますが、出て本当に良かった名盤です。
メディアから叩かれる覚悟で出すだけに、余計な曲を入れずに密度を高めたものと思われます。

出だしこそ地味ですが、楽曲の良さ、CD全体としての完成度、特に終盤の盛り上がりは、
彼らのCDの中でも最高と言えると思います。
活き活きと尖った1st、病的にささくれ立った3rdの間に位置する本作は、
バンドとしては最高の状態で作られたのではないでしょうか。

4作目以降は大人の音楽で人気を集めている彼らですが、
こんなに真摯にROCKを追求していた時代もあったと思うと、
リッチーの失踪に胸が痛みます。

バンドの詞世界や社会に対してのアティテュードは不変であるが、サウンドでは多少変化を見せたセカンド。
マンチェスターの横風を受けた音が鳴っている。マンデーズの曲はカバーしているので結構影響受けている模様。
ファーストに比べて無駄な曲が少ない（単純に収録数の差？）。
ニックとショーンの技量が飛躍的にアップしている。故にグルーヴロック寄りのサウンドがやたらと格好良い。
傑作と呼べる程ではないが、3や5のように劇的な展開を見せる曲が多く、聞く者を飽きさせない。
これだけグラマラスでポップな音を出すならばトニー・ビスコンティーに任せても良かったのでは。
