   グローヴァー・ワシントンJr.はクリード・テイラーに認められ、1970年代にスタープレイヤーになった。そして、彼がさらにスケールアップしたのは、1979年から始まるエレクトラ時代だった。これは1980年に発表した同レーベルでの第2作で、リチャード・ティー、エリック・ゲイル、スティーヴ・ガッドといった元「スタッフ」のメンバーも参加している。
   当時流行した、いわゆるアダルトな雰囲気のブラックフュージョン。全米アルバムチャートの5位にランクされた大ヒットアルバムだ。ビル・ウィザースのヴォーカルを一部加えたのも効果的で、ビルの歌をフィーチャーした<5>はシングルカットされ、ビルボードのチャートで最高2位にランクされた。余談ながら、その<5>は日本題より、「ジャスト・ザ・トゥー・オブ・アス」という原題のほうが雰囲気が出る。なおこのアルバムの成功に気をよくしたグローヴァーは翌1981年に、ほぼ同じメンバーで続編『Come Morning』を録音した。（市川正二）

ジャケット写真を見ると何とも眼を覆いたくなるような、恥ずかしさがある。（これは海賊版でも、なんでもなく、正式なオリジナルアルバムである。）

ただ、そのジャケット写真の安っぽさとは正反対に、演奏しているアーティストは、それぞれのジャンルでTOPクラスと言われる超名アーティスト達。
BassにMarcus Miller、GuitarはEric Gale、KeyにRichard Tee、DrumsにSteve Gaddなどと言うメンバーであれば、音が悪い筈があり得ない。

でも、個人的に言えば、このアルバムを制作したGrover Washington Jr.の暖かいプレイと、"Just The Two Of Us"でVo参加している、Bill Withersの素朴で、どこか切なそうな声が好き。
都会的でお洒落なサウンドの中のBillの声って、凄く魅力的なのだ。都会のオアシスとでも言ったら良いのか？疲れている時に聴くと凄く癒される。

このアルバム収録のJust the Two of Us邦題「クリスタルの恋人たち」が好きで、
大学当時は夜な夜な子守歌にして寝ていました。
邦題は、当時流行の書籍「なんとなくクリスタル」からつけられたはず。
スチールドラムの音、エレピの雰囲気、気だるいボーカル、そして歌うサックス。
この曲の雰囲気をぴったりとイメージした素晴らしい邦題だと思います。
Just the Two of Usは当時シングルヒットもしましたね。
正しく８０’ｓを代表する傑作です！！
このアルバム、ジャケのイメージそのままのグッドサウンド満載ですので、
夜のリラックスタイムには最適なＢＧＭになるでしょう。

実はこのアルバム高校時代に入手し良く聴いてました。ガキのくせになんでこんな大人のアルバムを聴いていたのかなと自分を分析してみるとその当時友人の影響で、ポップス、ロック、フュージョン、邦楽、洋楽問わずありとあらゆるジャンルの曲を聴いていた時代でちょうどＹＭＯのテクノサウンドも氾濫していて、そんなミュージックシーンに飽き飽きして安らぐ曲を追い求め行き着いた所が本作ではないかと思います。受験をひかえイライラしていたせいかも知れませんが、これを聴くと落ちつくと言うか、当時、私のためのヒーリングサウンドだったのかもしれません、インストアルバムですが、ボーカルフューチャーの「ＪＵＳＴ　ＴＨＥ　ＴＷＯ　ＯＦ　ＵＳ」も光ってました。今聴いても私の心に染み渡ります。バッキングプレーヤーも渋いプレイをしてます。一生聴けるアルバムじゃないかな、私がおジイさんになっても。
