Tom Jones?最初の印象はそうだった。いや、たぶん、もっと迫力があるかな？
英国屈指のジャズロックバンドに怪物ボーカル。超ど迫力に決まっている。そんな、戦う前に白旗をあげたくなる内容。
冒頭４曲の内、Chris Farlowが歌っている曲はどれも重くて暗い曲調で、イギリスにありそうで無い音を出している。（Take Me Back To DoomsdayのみギタリストのDave 'Clem' Clempsonが歌っている）
５曲目のTheme For An Imaginary Westernなどカバー曲もまるで彼らの曲のようにしっくりとはまっている。
個人的にはインストのBring Out Your Deadがお気に入り。暗い曲が多い中で疾走感がある。
残念なのは最後の曲がドラムソロな事。ぜひ、オリジナル曲でバンドの力を見せて欲しかった。無論、Jon Hisemanのドラムは素晴らしいのだが。

このアルバムはChris Farlowのボーカルがあるからかどうかわからないが、結構ハードロック的に仕上がっている。

ジョン・ハイズマン、ディック・ヘクトールスミス、デイヴ・クレムソン、デイヴ・グリーンスレイドなどを配したコラシアムはジャズ・ロックやプログレの愛好家の間では比較的、無視されがちなグループですが、真っ当なブルース・ロック系のアルバムとして聞くとホントに充実しており、そんな中でも当時、既に多くのヒット曲を出していたベテラン・シンガーのクリス・ファーロウをヴォーカリストとして迎えた本作は間違いなく“あっと驚く”アルバムであり、それに見合った内容を持っています。演奏が申し分ないのは当たり前ですが、後にアトミック・ルースターやＺＥＰのジミー・ペイジのソロでも変わらぬ咽を聞かせたクリスのヴォーカルは素晴らしく、個人的にも年を追うごとに好きになっていきます。(この人のソロ作品も最高) 特にジャック・ブルースの１ｓｔに収録されていた、イマジナリー・ウェスタンのカヴァーは最高・・・というか最強。聞く度に身震いが起きるほどの名唱で絶対に聞いた方が良いです。後にコラシアムの残党のデイヴ・グリーンスレイド、トニー・リーヴスらによってグリーンスレイドなるバンドが結成され、そこでもこの曲はカヴァーされていますが、当然こちらのテイクには叶いません。ヴォーカルではなく“ヴォーカリスト”。プロ中のプロの歌声をぜひ。
