そのように、自分の愛するサウンドについて、ストコフスキーは語っています。この録音が行われたとき、彼の長かった人生も､いよいよ最晩年を迎えようとしていました。この時期になると、ストコフスキーは、かつてのように楽曲に手を加えずに、まっすぐに演奏することが多くなっていきました。曲目は地味ですが、どれも美しいメロディーを持っていて、おおらかで温かいストリングス・サウンドが、心に染みわたります。そしてそのむこうに、老ストコフスキーのやさしい後姿が見えるかのようです。
