伝説のギター・ヒーロー,M・シェンカーとR・シェンカーを世に送り出したジャーマンHM/HRの雄。デビュー16年目を迎えた彼らは,HM/HR不毛の地ドイツにおいてその概念を打破した先駆的な存在だ。ブリティッシュ・ハードの流れを根底に持つそのサウンドは,ハードかつメロディアスでパープルやU・ヒープと類似点がある。RCA移籍3作目にあたる『ヴァージン・キラー』(’76)で人気を決定づけるが,ジャケットに少女の裸体を使用した為子供を冒とくしたと非難され発禁になったエピソードは今思えば懐しい。

さすが、ウリ・ジョンロート時代は、いいねー。この時代のスコーピオンズ特有の暗さと、哀愁のメロディーは、初期のスコーピオンズ節が、炸裂している。３曲目のウリ作曲は、もう物凄くかっこいい。それと何と言ってもウリのギターは、独特の音で、他では絶対聞けない、不思議な雰囲気を醸し出している。

また、マイケルシェンカーのクレジットのある曲も聴けて、２度お得。聞けば聞くほど味が出てくる作品だ。

まだ可愛い女子高生（？）だった昔、大好きだったスコーピオンズ。久々にスピィーディズ・カミングが聞きたくって...このノリってやっぱ最高だよ。２０数年程前の古き良き時代が蘇ってくる。って言うかまだまだ新鮮！！ヒップホップ世代の息子にはチョットわからないらしいが、４０代の洋楽世代の方には是非とも聞いて欲しいな。

お恥ずかしながら、最近スコーピオンズを聴き始めました。4曲目の「フライ・ピープル・フライ」が聴きたくて。伸びのあるボーカル、切なさが響き渡るギターソロ。惚れ惚れします。なぜか懐かしさを感じさせるアルバムです。皆さんに是非お薦め致します。
