完成度が非常に高いアルバムだと思います。
勿論、自分はQUEENが好きなので、このアルバムを入手しました。
しかし、これはQUEENではない。
全く別モノです。

音楽が好きなので、洋邦問わずに様々なアルバムを聴いて来ましたが、

『楽曲の質』
『歌唱力』
『カリスマ性』

そして

『アルバムの構成』
『心に響く曲と歌声』

全てに魅了されました。

没後10年以上経った今でも
Freddieが人気がある理由の原点がハッキリ見えるアルバムでもあります。

個人的には、QUEENのライブで定番だった

『リロリロレー♪』
(ディオディオデー♪)

が聴けるのが、たまらないです。

少しでも気ななってる方は是非、聴いてみて下さい。

リリース当時、初版を買いました。私の大切な大切な一枚です。

他の誰にも邪魔されずに作った作品なので、フレディのロマンチシズム、孤独感、Loveが一杯、の濃いアルバムです。そしてとってもポップです。

Queenはあれほどに世界的に伝説のバンドなのに、なぜか各々ソロはパッとしません。そこそこ売れますが、フィル・コリンズのように一世を風靡しません。それは多分、日頃はバンド内で微妙なパワーバランスの元に音楽が成り立っているが故に、ソロになると自分のやりたいことをとことん追求して、やや独善的になりすぎるからなのでしょう。

フレディのこの最初にして最後の完全ソロアルバムもやはり、やや自分の世界にずっぽりはまって、アルバムとしてのバランスは微妙です。それでもQueenの音楽では見られないフレディの内面を垣間みるような切々とした楽曲の数々は、珠玉です。

"I Was Born to Love You"は、ここに収録されたものがオリジナルです。Queen版のものより、ずっとロマンチックでキラキラしていて、私はこちらの方がずっと好きです。

　フレディ個人だけでは唯一のソロアルバムであり、本人曰く「リスナーが聴いて共感できるような、シンプルでポップなラブソング集」である。まさにその通りであり、小難しい理論やわざとらしい恋愛悲歌とは違い、シンプルさの中に光る魅力が結集されている。
　今や知らない人がいないであろう「I Was Born to Love You」や、「愛とは複雑だからこそ逆に単純な形が重要」と彼も語っている「Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow」など、どれも珠玉の作品である。
　また当時彼がはまっていたという「Your Kind of Lover」「 Let's Turn It On 」等のダンサブルなナンバーも見逃せない。その時代を感じる音色ではあるが、クイーンでは無いような魅力が満載であり、かれもソロ活動ではクイーン的な面とは違うところを見せたかったのだろう。
　当初レコードで発売され、今入手するには「Solo Collection」の中の一枚として、という場合が多いかもしれないが、ファンとしてはなるべく１枚のアルバムで所有したい作品だ。
