1曲目のスライド・ギターとハーモニカの関係は大福餅と番茶に等しい。リンゴの歌ほどごはん(白飯)やあんこ(つぶしあん)に近しい存在はない。さらに2曲目のスネアのすっとぼけたニゴリ、ゆとりあるドラムスの(ちょっとおくれぎみの)間合いの心地よさに俺はよよと泣きくずれながら笑いました。本作でリンゴとツイン・ドラムスを張るべきだったのは森高千里さんであります。彼女こそリンゴ主義ドラマーの筆頭です。アラニス・モリセットにジョー・ウォルシュ入りの3曲目から“ストロベリー・フィールズの粉”入り4曲目“傷心大王”のジョージのギターでこの世の5千万人は確実に泣くでありましょう。ゲストのあれこれ、あいつがあそこでこいつがこれかあ、とお楽しみは、プロデューサー=マーク・ハドソンのくすぐりやシャレの数々とともに、マニアもそうでない人もたんまりありすぎて、また泣けます。かの『リンゴ』と併聴したって遜色のない大傑作。これでベースがビル・ワイマンだったら俺はふにゃふにゃになって蒸発してしまっただろう。 (湯浅学) --- 1998年07月号
