リトル・フィートという70年代ロック・シーンを大きくリードしたバンドの人気ギタリスト、故ローウェル・ジョージにトリビュートした素晴らしい企画CDの登場。まさに世界に誇れる原盤制作といえる。ローウェルの未亡人エリザベス・ジョージの協力を得ただけあって、彼の音楽に魅せられたり、多くの影響を受けたり、いまだに彼を尊敬するアーティストがこぞって参加している。世界に先がけての日本先行発売も快挙だ!枚挙にいとまがないほどの豪華スターによるカヴァー集だが、何といってもハイライトは桑田佳祐による「ロング・ディスタンス・ラブ」。冒頭曲「コールド・コールド・コールド」のカヴァーは、かのボニー・レイット。スライド・ギターが炸裂するカッコ良いトラックだ。次いでのタジ・マハール、J.D.サウザーも捨て難い作品。大収穫はボトル・ロケッツとクリス・ヒルマン録音。ともにデヴィッド・リンドレーの怪しいスライド・ギターが唸る作品だ。 (鈴木カツ) --- 1997年11月号
