　カーペンターズのベストは、沢山出ていますが、曲の多さ、音質の良さからから言ってこの盤がベストです。贅沢を言えばちょっと曲が多すぎてもう少しまとめられればとも思うのですが、やはりこれは贅沢ですネ。
　カーペンターズと言うとやはりなんといってもカレンの歌声です。感情たっぷりに歌い上げるその歌声は、今聞いても新鮮ですし、おそらく、これからもいつ聴いても新鮮だと思います。
　私は、こういったベストの後、一枚一枚オリジナルをたどって行きましたが、「涙の乗車券」、「クロース・トゥ・ユー」、「ナウ・アンド・ゼン」などなどどれもがベスト盤と同じくらい良いアルバム、楽曲ばかりです。
　未だカーペンターズをお持ちでない方にはこのベストをお勧めしますし、このベストの後は是非オリジナルに進んでいかれることをお勧めします。

カーペンターズと言っても、もう知らない人の方が多いでしょう。グループが活躍したのはかれこれ30年前ですから。

このＣＤは偶然見つけたのですが、若いころ聞いた曲がほとんど入っていました。カーペンターズの曲は、今のアーティストはもちろん、当時のアーティストと比べてもスローテンポです。その分、カレン・カーペンターの美しい歌声を存分楽しめます。歌唱力は、歴代の女性ヴォーカリストの中でトップクラスでしょう。英語の発音がクリアなので、歌詞をみなくてもある程度の意味がわかるのもありがたい。中学生の頃、一生懸命レコードを聞いて歌詞を覚えたのを思い出しました。
代表曲は「Yesterday once more」「Top of the world」「Super star」等でしょうが、「Sing」、「Jambalaya」等の少し雰囲気の違う曲もなかなかいいです。

若いころ夢中になった人は当然のこととして、子供たち(初めて聞く人も多いでしょう)にもおすすめのアルバムです。

何となく心に心地よい曲を聴きたくて
このＣＤを買いました。
やっぱりカーペンターズはいいですね。
透き通った声がスッと心に染みて来ます。

発音がキレイだし、とても聞き取りやすいので
このＣＤは英語のリスニングの練習にもいいですよ!!
受験生の娘もこれを聞いて練習しています。
受験生にもお勧めの一枚です。
