ソニー・クラークがフィリー・ジョーとポール･チェンバースという絶好のリズム隊を従え、間クリーンとファーマーを２管にすえたハードバップアルバム。
１曲目のスロープルースで各人が名人芸ともいえるソロを交換しています。
２曲目はマイナー調の曲で日本では最も人気のある曲かもしれないブルー・マイナーです。この曲でマクリーンが必殺の泣きのフレーズを演奏します。
３曲目は普通のバップ的演奏で小休憩。
４曲目がクラークのコロコロ心地よく転がるフレーズで深夜に静かに心落ち着かせて聴きたくなる、ディープナイトです。ソニー･クラークの最高傑作ともいえます。
ＪＡＺＺを聴いたことがない人に最初にお勧めしたい１枚とも言えるアルバムです。

モノラルで、しかも録音順に収録されたCD。（Blue Minorで始まります）
日本人に一番愛されたブルーノート・アルバムだからこそ実現した日本限定企画盤。
