ショッキング・ブルーのシングルＡＢ面を集めた編集盤。Disc 1 はＡ面２３曲、Disc 2はＢ面２４曲で、マリスカのソロも２曲収録されています（太ってからのシングルです）。ライナーノーツは表紙込み２０頁で、シングルの番号も記載されています。モノクロですがジャケ写真も何枚と、Chris Welch 氏によるグループ史です。オリジナルアルバムにボーナストラックが収録されていますので、ほとんどの曲は他でも聞くことができる音源ですが、Repertoire からの '89 のリリースと比べると、音質はちょっと良くなってます（高音が違います）。曲順はマリスカ参加前の曲を除き、年代順に並んでいます。シタールやストリングスが入ったり、アメリカナイズされたり（Gonne Sing..はドゥービーみたい）、最後にはエレポップ風になるまでの変遷がよくわかります。作曲はほとんど Robby VanLeeuwen がおこなっており、Ｂ面曲とはいえスカは無く、Mariska Veresの容姿・歌だけでなく、あらためてすごいグループだったんだなぁと再確認しました。あと、ＣＤ化されていないのは、Live In Japan だけなんだよなぁ、、、

中学・高校生の頃、子供心に、子供だましのバンドだとは思いながらも好きで、シングルやアルバムが出るたびにレコードを買っていたものでした。解散してからはすっかり忘れていましたが、先日、YOU TUBEで見て初めて知った、GONNA SING MY SONGやBODY AND SOULをちゃんと聴いてみたいと思って買ってみたのですが、大変良かったです。日本でもヒットした曲のベストアルバムCDはすでに一枚持っていたのですが、この２曲だけのためでも買った値打ちはありました。その他の、昔から知っていた曲も、よく聴いてみると、マンドリンなどをうまく使って、凝った音作りをしているものもあるのですね。久しぶりに聴いた「悲しき鉄道員」のB面のROLL ENGINE ROLLも良かったなあ...
これと同時に買ったのですが、ソロになったマリスカ・ヴェレスがSHOCKING JAZZ QUINTETというバンドで、VENUSなどの自らのヒット曲や、ロック、ポップスの有名曲をジャズにアレンジして歌っているアルバムがあり、ものすごく良いので、かつてのファンの方はぜひ聴いてみてほしいと思います。（mariska veresで検索すると出て来ます。）
