小難しいことは全く言えませんが、踊りだしたくなって、そして、超幸せ
になるアルバムです。
特にマタズールはとっても素晴らしい！
この以前のアルバムと比べると、このアルバムはダンサブルな感じです。
これをライブで聴いた時は本当に頭の線が何本か切れたかと思うぐらい、ハジケまくってしまいました。
ぜひっ！聴いてって感じですね。

　ディープフォレスト３作目のアルバム 『 コンパルサ 』 。　一言で言えば、陽気で開放的な ラテン・スタイル、それに尽きると思います。西インド諸島のリズム、ビート、そしてダンサンブルな作品が多く、普段 ワールドミュージック になじみの薄い方にもオススメです。　ワタシにとっては感慨深いアルバムでもあります。というのも DF と巡り会ったのはこのアルバム、この音楽が最初だからなんです。
　特に惹かれたのは Tr.3 "Madazulu" 、ワールド・ミュージックの源流を感じました。　"Ekue Ekue" も良いですね。　ラストの "Freedom Cry" は、2nd からの再燃、＋Tr.14 "Alexi " の２曲が日本盤オリジナル収録になります。　"アレクシー " は、キーボードの響く一方で、キューバの聖歌が織りなす見事なリズムが心地よいです。
　余談になりますが、 部屋で大の字になって " マタズール " を聴いていると “ 背中から大地のエネルギーを感じたように思えました ” 、が、よく考えたら自分の部屋が２階にあることに気付きました。それくらい （？） 感動を喚起させる名作です。

１９９８年発表。南米〜地中海〜アフリカをモチーフにそれらをミクスチャーした、フュージョン的アプローチの強い作品。日本版にはボーナス曲１曲と自動車のCMで使われた前シングル「フリーダム・クライ」が最後に追加されており、お徳である。

一曲目から明るく心が動き出すような、カラフルでスペイシーな躍動感に包まれた楽曲が並ぶ。昔ウェザー・リポートでジョー・ザヴィヌルが行ったシンセサイザーによるミュージック・パレッティングの手法を見事に昇華しており、祭りやトライバルな要素が持つ懐かしさを、多彩な音色の電気楽器とヴォーコーダーも交えた多士済々のコーラス陣を巧みにブレンドすることで、肉体性と人間的な暖かさをたたえた新しい第三世界的音楽の世界を表現することを成し遂げた。この溢れ出さん限りの躍動感をよく一枚のCDに収められたなあと感嘆の念が絶えない。ウェザー・リポートの作品「テイル・スピニン」のコンセプトをさらにダンサブルに分かりやすくした、まさに（４）で共演したジョー・ザヴィヌルの頬もほころぶ内容となっている。
おすすめは全曲、といいたいが（１）（２）（３）（４）（５）（６）（８）（１０）が素晴らしい。聴いている人の心に、人肌の優しさがこもった躍動感や懐かしくもある清々しい青空が自然に浮かんでくるような心象喚起力がある。

子供のように体を動かしたい衝動と、それを優しく見つめる大地の母性的なおおらかさの源流に触れられるような一枚。独断なのだが、９０年代テクノ〜アンビエント最高傑作と言っておきたい。
