‘84に突如として結成〜発売された彼ら唯一のアルバム。
ニール・ショーンが水を得た魚の如く、
ディストーションをバリバリに効かせてここまで弾きまくっているアルバムは、
後にも先にもありません。
ギター・ボーカル・ベース・ドラムの4人編成によるシンプルロックが
ここまでかっこよく演じることができるというお手本的な作品です。
この後サミーはヴァンへーレンに合流し、
世界的な大ヒットアルバムを量産してゆく・・・。
ニールファンの方は、オールジミヘンナンバーの
ポール・ロジャースとのライヴアルバムも必聴ですね！

1984年という年にリリースされた数多くの良質なロック・アルバムの中でも、楽曲の良さ、演奏面の素晴らしさ、そして爽快さにおいて群を抜く一枚。
Sammy Hagerの熱く乾いたヴォーカルとNeal Schonの湿度のある情熱的なギター、それを支えるMichael Shrieve (ds) とKenny Aaronson (b) の完璧なアンサンブルは見事という他なく、捨曲など皆無。
Procol Harumの名曲のカヴァー「Whiter Shade Of Pale」の美しく熱い演奏を惚れ惚れしながら聴くと、この時代にこの4人が会し、この素晴らしい名盤が生まれたことにただ感謝したくなる。

　アメリカン・ロックの名盤の1枚だと思う。全体的にハードでドラマティックかつメロディアス。ヴォーカル、ギター、ベース、ドラム、どれも洗練されている。　特に♪青い影／プロコル・ハレムのカバーは、オリジナルの叙情的なハモンドオルガンの音色に対して、ニールのギターもたいへん美しく印象的です。この曲だけでも是非一度聴いてほしい。
