　スラッシュが売りのMEGADETHが、へヴィネスを重視して製作された今作は、とにかく格好いいに尽きます。
　メンザのドラミングも良い、フリードマンのプレイも冴え渡り、ジュニアのベースもしっかりと刻み込まれ、神様デイヴは益々歌が上手くなる。もう言う事なしのアルバムとなっております。
　12曲目『Victory』は、歌詞が面白い作りになっています。(過去のタイトルナンバーをただ羅列してるだけなんですけどね。）最初に対訳を見たときはこれで解散なのではと思ってしまいました。とりあえず一安心です。
　何はともあれ、進化を続けるMEGADETHの最高傑作を是非一度買って聴いて下さい。

前作が大ヒットし初の武道館公演が決定しながら、あまりにも過酷なツアー生活の中で中心人物のデイヴ・ムステイン(Vo,G)の
ドラッグ癖が再発してしまい、日本公演を中止せざるを得なくなったMEGADETH。
本作は'94年にリリースされた6thアルバムだ。

一聴して耳を惹くのは明らかに｢歌っている｣ムステインのVo。

楽曲作りに際して大きな意識改革があったようで、もはや「スラッシュ・メタル」とは間違っても呼べない音楽になっている。
しかし楽曲の質は素晴らしく高く、サウンドが纏った独特の威厳は紛れもないMEGADETH。
グルーヴ感溢れるリズム隊の演奏も見事だし、スラッシュであることに意味を見出している狭量なファン以外は

楽しめる要素を必ず見つけられるだろうと思う。

ただしセールス的にはここから下降線を辿る。

リリースされてすぐに購入した時は「全然速くないじゃんっっ!!」ということで、2,3回聴いただけでお蔵入りになってしまっていましたが、この間10年以上振りに聴いてみたら、「かっこいいじゃん。」と。
前作『破滅へのカウントダウン』より更にヘヴィネス重視の作りとなっており、はっきり言ってスラッシュメタルな楽曲は皆無ですが、個々の楽曲のクオリティは非常に高く、「聴かせる」アルバムとなっています。バラードもいくつかあったりするし。
個人的には、歌詞が面白いM12『Victory』が好きですね。
悪くないアルバムだと思うのですが、当時の私を『MEGADETH』離れさせてしまったアルバムなので、星4つ。
