キャッチーなメロディーながら、面白いことを後ろでやっているんだよね。キーボードのセンスもすばらしいし、詩もいいね。某Ｔ○Ｋの番組でアイドルのように取り上げられていたからか、なかなか評価されなイバンドだ。この2枚目がベストですな。この後、フランシス・ダナリーはアメリカナイズドされ、普通の人になっちゃったのが残念。プログレ、もしくは純粋にロック好きであれば持っているべき1枚でしょう。聞いたことがない人はもったいないくらいいいアルバムだよ。

　某雑誌がルックスの良いイエスのようなプログレバンドと宣伝していたのを思い出すイットバイツのセカンドアルバム、このアルバムを初めて聞いたときに、イエス以上に叙情的な曲の完成度の高さに非常に驚かされた。捨て曲がなくアルバム全体が良い曲で満たされている。シングルになった「キスライクジューダ」や「ローズマリー」のようなハードロックのリスナーに受け入れられる曲もあれば、「オールドマンとエンジェル」やタイトル曲のようなプログレ風長尺曲もあり、幅広い層にアピールできる音楽が並べられている。個人的に好きな曲は「ハンティングザホエール」でホワンホワンとしたシンセと悲しげなコーラスを聴くと気持ちが18年前にタイムスリップしてしまうようで、僕にとっては絶対に手元から手放せない愛聴盤だ。このアルバムのプログレ的な音楽性を方向づけたのはキーボードのジョンベックだったらしく、フランシスのハードロック指向とは意見が分かれてしまい、次作はややハードロック的なアルバムにシフトしてしまう。もう1枚くらいこのスタイルで作ってほしかった。フランシス以外のメンバーは今何をしているのだろう？

彼等のアルバムの中で1番の名盤だと思います。久々にプログレ系の新しいバンドがメインストリームへ、なんて期待したのですが、残念ながら正当な評価を受けず、しかもプロモーションも最悪だった。しかし、とにかく聴いてみて。表面はキャッチーなメロディなんだけど、複雑な演奏、構成、ピーター・ガブリエルを彷彿させるボーカル、見事にプログレしてます。
同じ時期に出たメタル寄りのドリームシアターが今でも活躍してるのを観ると、何か寂しさを感じるのは僕だけでしょうか?
