[ジェフリー・ダウンズ]
1952年8月25日生まれ。アイソトープなどでの活動を経て、76年にティナ・チャールズのバンドでトレヴァー・ホーンと出会い、ザ・バグルズを結成している。79年にリリースしたシングル「ラジオ・スターの悲劇」が爆発的ヒットを記録した。その後ふたり揃ってジョン・アンダーソン、リック・ウェイクマン脱退後のイエスに加入、80年にアルバム『ドラマ』を発表している。イエス解散後はスティーヴ・ハウらとともにエイジアを結成、以降唯一のオリジナル・メンバーとしてバンドを支え続けている。

1992年発表。エイジアのキーボード、ジェフ・ダウンズの2枚目のソロ・アルバム。
ファースト・ソロの『ザ・ライト・プログラム』が1987年だから5年ぶりのアルバムということになる。前作はオール・インストルメンタルだったが、本作は様々なシンガーのボーカルもフィーチャーされている。収録曲に名曲が多く、特に2の『ラジオ・スターの悲劇』(1980年)に惹きつけられて買ったわけだが、正直聴かなきゃ良かったと思った。
キーボードの音色も含めて陳腐で気に入らない。何をやりたかったか僕には意味不明なアルバムだ。

ダウンズのソロアルバムでは一番充実した内容で、オススメ。
バグルスやイエス時代のカバーも面白く、他の曲もキャッチーで魅力的。これはなかなか良くできたアルバムだと思います。
マックス・ベーコンやスティーブ・ハウなども参加してます。

ソロ名義になっているが、楽曲をやる必然性があまりなく。
単なるムードミュージックの域を出ず。１０点中３点
かなりコアなファン向けアイテム。
