　「ヤマトより愛をこめて」と「愛よその日まで」は、佐々木功さんがカバー。また、元が岩崎宏美さんの歌は堀江美都子さんがカバー。
　放映・上映時のオリジナル版は「宇宙戦艦ヤマト　ボーカルコレクション」で聴けます。また、この「ソングコレクション」では収録されていないヤマトＩＩＩ以降のボーカルソングも同様。
　ボーカルアルバムが出るまで、シリーズのボーカルを（不完全ながら）網羅した数少ないアルバムでした。佐々木功さんや堀江美都子さんのカバーは、当時、レコード会社間の版権問題でオリジナル歌手の歌を収録できない状況下の苦肉の策でした。しかし、今はむしろこのアルバムの魅力となっています。カバーではありますが、さすがの歌唱力と味わいでヤマトの世界に浸らせてくれます。賛否あると思いますが、私はこういうバージョンも聴けてよかったと思います。（ただし、初めてヤマトのボーカルソング集を買う方は、「ボーカルソングコレクション」の方が広く網羅してますし、どの歌もオリジナルですから、「当時」の思い出に浸るにはいいと思います。２枚目、３枚目をお求めの方にお勧めします）。

「宇宙戦艦ヤマトボーカルコレクション」には収録されていない、「好敵手」「おもかげ星」「星に想うスターシャ」を聞く事ができる。
「宇宙戦艦ヤマト」から「ヤマトよ永遠に」までの曲が中心で、「パートIII」や「完結編」の曲は収録されていない。懐かしい時間を取り戻せる貴重な一枚。

　彼の宮川泰さんが亡くなられた時、「自分が死んだら、宇宙戦艦ヤマトのテーマ曲で送って欲しい・・・｣と言われていたらしく，実際その生演奏で彼は送られていきました・・・それほど思い入れのある曲なんですね｡言われてみれば，あれはあまりにも有名すぎて代えって雑に扱われがちですが，よくよく考えるとやはり名曲ですよ｡あの宮川さんをして｢これで送ってくれ｡｣ですからね。数々の名曲を生み出した彼が言うのですから・・・やはりあれは大した曲ですよ，ハイ｡それを歌っているのが佐々木功さん｡彼も凄い人ですよね｡音量・声質ともにアノ玉置浩二さんにも匹敵するものをお持ちになってるでしょ｡アノ男っぽいパワーのある歌声に、しっかりとした聞かせる音質・・・ヤマトの主題歌は日本史に残る名曲（「真っ赤なスカーフ｣も｢テレサよ永遠に｣も｢銀河伝説」も）ですよ，ハイ｡
