ファーストに引き続きドイツの前衛グループ、FAUSTの全面協力のもと製作されたセカンド・アルバム。
しかしレコード会社から発売を拒否され、80年に日の目を見るまでお蔵入りになっていたといういわくつきの作品である。
いわゆるボツ盤（タイトルも逆になっている）というやつだが、
もちろん彼らの場合、作品の出来が悪かったというわけではなく、
むしろこの作品こそがSLAPP HAPPYの魅力を最大限に引き出している、と断言したくなるほどの傑作なのである。
「CASABLANCA MOON」と「Acnalbasac Noom」
一部収録曲や曲順が変更になっているものの、基本的に同じ曲のアレンジ違いの作品である。にもかかわらずここまで印象が変わるとは驚くばかりだ。
ゴージャスで輪郭のはっきりした音作りだった「CASABLANCA MOON」は
イギリスのスタジオ・ミュージシャン使ってレコーディングされたものであり、
良くも悪くも無難な演奏と言える。
しかしFAUSTがバックアップを務めた本作は、音の隙間に様々な恣意や謎かけが込められ、
ローファイで、過剰な毒に満ち、それ故つかみ所のないサウンドになっている。
それがSLAPP HAPPYの持ち味である優雅で気品のある佇まいとマッチして、
他にはないポップ感覚を生み出しているのだ。
彼らはFAUSTと別れた後にもHENRY COWというイギリスの前衛グループとも共同制作しているが、相性の良さではこちらだろう。
僕の場合、人に聴かせるなら「CASABLANCA MOON」。しかし一人で楽しむなら断然本作である。

今市場ではヴァージン盤のCasablanca Moonが一般的に売られていますが私みたいなド素人が聴いても心奪われるのはAcnalbasac Noomのほうです。どこが良いのかわからないけど普通のポップスと何処が違うの？と聞かれて答えられないけど、なんとも言えぬ不思議な世界。そう、どこかの島に案内されて色んな体験をさせてくれるような・・・私は買った日に少なくとも20回以上聴きました。ReRはそういうものに戦うべきして作られたレーベルではなかったのですか？廃盤にはしないで欲しいと思います。
