今でも初めて聴いた衝撃は忘れられません。
アンナチュラル・シティとエイジア
後に5.1サラウンド版の時に男性の生声に差し替えられてしまいましたが
元来の機械加工のコーラスの方が虚像の都市のイメージにピッタリです。
忘れ去られた物の慟哭、そしてそれでもなお存在し続ける都市。
地の底から沸き上がる重低音。
アニメ映画音楽の転換期になった作品です。

押井守の傑作アニメ映画のサントラ。ハードでリアリスティックな映画の内容にあわせ、本作も派手さがない重厚な作品にしあがっている。もともと本編自体が主題歌などをもたないことや、ストーリー展開上、特車２課自体が脇役であることなど、派手になりそうな部分はもともとない。
全編を覆うギリギリとした緊張感に満ちたサスペンス風のＢＧＭの完成度は高い。いまだに報道番組のキナ臭い映像のバックに流されているのを耳にするほど・・。
なかでもベイブリッジ爆撃や山場の東京襲撃シーンで流される曲、自衛隊の治安部隊出動シーンに流される曲は印象的。ひたすら地味だが海底トンネルでの戦闘シーンで流される淡々とした曲も何度も聴くと味がでてくる。
唯一、南雲警部の恋愛を描く「ウィズラブ」がピアノソロを中心にし雰囲気を異にするが、その曲さえもところどころに弦楽器の神経を逆なでするような高音が流れを遮るようにさしはさまれるなど、本作に平安な曲はない（エンディングテーマも勝利や平和を表す曲調ではなく、自衛隊出動シーンで流されるテーマのアレンジになっているなど、漠然とした不安感、緊張感を保ったままでのラストになる）。
リビングでじっと聞くというよりも、クルマの中で流すのに似合う。

このサントラを聞いていると映画のワンシーンを思い浮かべます。エンディングの曲はマジ感動します！このCDかって聞いてみる価値ありです！もう本当に良い曲ばっかりです。
