Don't Answer Meがアランパーソンズプロジェクトとの初めての出会いでいい曲だと思うけど、M1の「Primetime」がとても好きです。イントロから（どう表現したら良いのか分からないのですが）終わりまで続く緊張感のようなものが心地よく好きです。ボーカルとコーラスのからみ、ボーカルとギターのからみ（といえば良いのか・・）古臭いといわれりゃそれまでなのかも知れないけど、80年代に洋楽と出会った自分にとっては不滅の名曲で、何回聞いてもあきません。あんまり評価高くないみたいだけど・・

シングルで大ヒットした「Don't answer me」が抜群に良いです。８０年代のポップソングの中でも名曲だと思います。また、この曲のビデオ・クリップが傑作でアメリカン・コミックちっくで最高です。できればビデオ・クリップも観ましょう！一番違いサウンドとして他のアーティストではスティーリーダンなんかに近いと思う。８０年代　シティー派ポップの名盤です。

アラン･パーソン･プロジェクトと言えば、80年代ですね。
当時、アメリカのスティーリー･ダンとよく比較されていました。ジャズ、フュージョン･ファンはスティーリー･ダンの方が好きだったみたいです。ラリー･カールトン等のフュージョン系のスタジオ･ミュージシャンも参加していましたしね。確かにスティーリー･ダンのアルバムはボーカル抜きでも成立しそうですね。
これに対し、アラン･パーソン･プロジェクトはイギリス、しかもロンドン、アビー･ロード･スタジオがベースです。スティーリー･ダンより抒情的な感じがします。ボーカルがあくまでも主役です。
当アルバムではやはり｢ドント･アンサー･ミー｣でしょう。これを聴くと当時のことをいろいろ思い出します。もっとも単に懐メロというのではなく、もともと当時から何となくノスタルジックな曲でした。ビデオクリップも、50年代のアメコミが使われていました。ディテクティブ･コミックのメイン･キャラクターがスーパー･マン等のスーパー･ヒーローではなく、その名のとおり探偵だった頃です。そんな時代なんて知りませんけどね。
そういえば昔から思っていたのですが、｢ドント･アンサー･ミー」のリズム･アレンジって大滝詠一に似てません？
