1991年3月にロンドンでこのバンドを体験しました（パープルの前座だった）。ライブでの演奏力がネックとされる女性ロックバンドですが、このバンドはそれを杞憂に終わらせるすばらしい演奏を披露。しかもメンバーはすべて美女。帰国後、すぐに購入したのがこの「Rev It up」です。当時のCDにはボーナストラックとして、「Edge of a broken heart」と「Crusin'」それぞれのライブバージョンが入っていましたがこれにはないんですね、残念。ジャケットも当時の裏面が現在の表面となっており、メンバーショットが表面の方がよかったと思います。さて、内容ですがキャッチ-なハードポップで、曲調も多彩。10年以上たった今でも飽きずに愛聴しています。

1の『REV　IT　UP』はへヴィで女性とは思えないくらいかっこいいですね。特にロキシーのハードなドラミングは同じ女＆“元”ドラマーとして本当に圧巻です。あのスリムな身体でこんなにヘヴィなプレイをするロキシーはマジでかっこいいです。勿論、他の３人も最高にクールでヘヴィな歌とプレイを聴かせてくれます。しかしこの４人は本当に綺麗ですねぇ。曲は『VIXEN』の方が好きな曲が多いのですが、やっぱりVIXENはかっこいいです！

1stに比べると、全体的に若干ハードさを増し、曲もツブぞろいで何度聴いても飽きません。
まずオープニングの「Rev It Up」ですが、ロキシーのスネア連打で曲が始まった瞬間にもうレッドゾーン。名盤確定です（笑）
さらにその次の名曲「How Much Love」ですが、これはVIXENを代表するナンバーと言ってもいいでしょう。
20年近く経った今でも色褪せない、覚えやすいメロディ。終盤のジャネットの絶唱が胸をしめつけます。
このオープニング２曲だけで5つ星確定です。
