このアルバムは、彼女がアイドルに提供した楽曲などが収録されていますが、どれも彼女の歌声にぴったりマッチしていて（本人作なので当然かもしれませんが）すごくいい感じのアルバムに仕上がっています。好き嫌いはあるかもしれませんが、私にとってはハズレのない選曲です。中でも好きなのは、中森明菜に提供した『駅』です。明菜の声で聴いても味があってステキだし、竹内まりやの声だとまた違った雰囲気で、せつない感じです。歌詞がまた泣かせますし。中山美穂に提供した『色・ホワイトブレンド』はフレッシュで可愛らしいし、薬師丸ひろ子が歌った『元気を出して』は、失恋したときには本当に慰められましたよ(笑)。是非聴いてみてください。

まりやさんの声がなんといっても好きですね・・・・・
まりやさんの詞って、たまに「ええっ？！」ていうのもあるんだけど声がその「ええっ」？をうまーくカバーしてくれているんですよね。
このCDのなかで一番好きなのは、テコのテーマ。声にとっても合ってますよ。カラオケで歌ってみたいと思う曲がいっぱい入ってます。

大学時代、このアルバムがいつも側で鳴っていた気がする。
後に発表されるベストアルバムの‘ Impressions ’に
収録される曲も多いけれど、リリース当時はセルフカバーも多い
このアルバムをベストアルバムのように感じて聴いていたものだ。

生音を大切にしたアレンジの曲が多いので、
さほど「時代性」は感じさせない。
スタンダードになり得るような普遍的な楽曲に
相応の普遍的なアレンジメントを施しているのは、
まりやさんの最大の理解者であるご夫君の達郎さんなので、
当たり前と言えば当たり前か。

河合奈保子に提供した03., 薬師丸ひろ子に提供した 05. が
知られているが、個人的には中山美穂に提供した08. が好き。
この曲は、アイドルが歌ったタイアップソングとしては
出色の出来だと思う。
80年代は、実力のあるシンガーソングライターがアイドルに
楽曲提供をするケースが多かったので、アイドルにしてみたら
幸福な時代だったかもしれない。

すぐれたシンガーソングライターには、
他のアーティストがカバーできる普遍的な楽曲が書け、
クライアントのニーズに合わせられるような柔軟性と
作家的な資質があるものだ。
そういう意味では、このアルバムは
「ソングライター・竹内まりや」のポテンシャルを証明した
アルバムだと言えるだろう。
