2002年リリースの『UNFINISHED BUSINESS』を聴いてSHYの虜になりました。
本作は85年リリースのメジャー移籍第一弾のアルバムで10→15はボーナストラックです。
1.を聴けばJOURNEYの影響を大きく受けていることがわかります。
が、聴き進んでいくと英国の先輩、MAGNUMにも似ていますね。
ハード・ポップな曲も多いのですが、3.は秀逸！
泣きのギターソロとサビメロの厚いコーラスがたまりません。
13.のイントロからサビの前まではSWEETの“ACTION”に激似です。
トニー・ミルズの驚異のハイトーンボーカルはライブでも堪能できることを14.15.が証明してくれます。

デビュー・アルバムがインディーズ・シーンで話題となった英国のSHY。
メジャーのRCAとの契約を手に入れた彼らが'84年にリリースした2ndアルバムが本作だ。

基本路線は前作と同じ叙情的なメロディを湛えたハード・ポップであるが、メジャー移籍の効果かしっかりと
プロデュースされており非常に質の高い作品に仕上がった。

相変わらずトニー・ミルズの憂いを含んだ高音Voは素晴らしいし、スティーヴ・ハリスの歌心あるギター・
プレイもここに来て目立ってきた。

期待したようなセールスはあげられなかったものの、叙情的なHRを好むファンには至高の作品となるだろう。

正直「Brave the Storm」としては産業ロック的な楽曲とサウンドが気に入っていないのですが、ボーナスで「Once Bitten Twice Shy」に入っていた「Deep Water」「Give Me a Chance」が入っているのがお得。今「Once Bitten Twice Shy」のCDは手に入れにくいですから・・・

HMブーム後半に出てきたので知らない方も多いかと思いますが,いいバンドです｡ヨーロッパとかラットとかが好きなら間違いなく気に入るはずです｡
