　1976年作品。４ｔｈアルバム。

　前作In Tranceより曲調が明るくなり、ハード・ロックらしい仕上がりになる。ややブリッティッシュの影響を感じさせる楽曲が多いのも印象的。

　過激なアルバムジャケットに社会は賛否両論だったそうですね。

-　曲　目　-

1. Pictured Life
　ハードナンバー。ウリが一生懸命ギターを操っています。テンション上げっぱなしで、ウリがソロを弾いているようで堪りません。

2. Catch Your Train
　疾走感のある、ハードロック。クラウスがシャウトしています。

3. In Your Park

4. Backstage Queen
　リズム部隊と他のパートがまったく違う内容なので、若干の違和感を感じます。

5. Virgin Killer
　アルバムのタイトル曲でもありますから、なかなかの曲です。踊るようなギターリフと、クラウスのシャウトが聴き所ですね。

6. Hell Cat
　イントロのギターワークが遊び心で一杯ですが、ボーカルが入ってからは、可愛らしい雰囲気のロックになってます。田中星児を思い出してしまいます。
　
7. Crying Days
　重い曲調です。
　
8. Polar Nights
　リフがDeep Purpreっぽいです。しかし、ルドルフのリフの刻み方が最高です。ボーカルはウリがとっているようです。ということで、クラウスマイネは何をしているんでしょう？
　
9. Yellow Raven
　アルバム中もっとも暗い曲。といっても、スコーピオンズのバラードらしい曲ですよ。ボーカルに高音の旋律がないので、クラウスの歌唱力を発揮している気がしません。おそらくウリのソロをメインに組み立てた曲じゃないでしょうかね？

第２期スコーピオンズが送り出したジャーマンメタルの最高傑作です。メンバーはリードギターにウルリッヒ・ジョン・ロートを据え徹頭徹尾ハードな音に終始しています。なかでもオープニングの「Pictured Life」のイントロのあまりの美しさに度肝を抜かれた人も多かったのではないでしょうか。ウリのギターテクニックはこの時期にすでに完成期を迎え、クラウス・マイネのヴォーカルも冴えわたっていただけに、個人的にはバンドの最高傑作だと思います。しかしながら、ルドルフ・シェンカーをはじめ他のメンバーは完全に蚊帳の外に追いやられてしまった感がありありと伺えます。それだけこの二人の力量が突出しているということなのです。
表題曲の「ヴァージン・キラー」での鬼気迫るウリの暴力的なフレーズは、後世に語り次がれるほどの傑作でしょう。ただし「ヘル・キャット」と「ポーラー・ナイト」ではウリがヴォーカルをとっていますが、いかんせん声量が貧弱で、せっかくの名曲が台無しに。あえて重箱のスミをつつくとこの点だけが珠にキズです。
少女のヌード写真を使ったジャケットとアルバムタイトルとの相関から、発売当初から物議をかもし、ヨーロッパでは発禁処分に。したがってメンバーが写っている何の変哲のないジャケットに差し替えられて流通していました。オリジナルジャケットで出回っていたのは、日本をはじめわずかな国のみという状況がいまなお続いています。つい最近になって、廉価盤で再発売されましたが、やはり国内盤はオリジナルデザインを使用しています。欧米では、宗教的な倫理観が背景にあってこうしたことについてはかなり厳格なようですが、よろず神のわが国では寛容なようです。 私は少し抵抗感があって（本当はレジに持っていけなかった。親に見つかるとまずいと思った）輸入盤を買いました。

このジャケットは修正後のモノです。修正前のジャケットは確かに強烈でしたが、
純粋にかっこよかったのに対し、こちらはやっつけのようでむなしい。
中身がいいだけに是非修正前のジャケットの方を入手して聴いていただきたいです。
