ＵＦＯ~ＭＳＧ(マイケル･シェンカー･グループ)へと至るある意味マイケルシェンカーの全盛期を2枚組にまとめたベストアルバム。1枚目がＵＦＯ，2枚目がＭＳＧとなっています。まずはＵＦＯ時代の選曲だが、代表曲はほぼ抑えてある。年代順の収録となっているが、いきなり｢ロックボトム｣から始まる衝撃といい、流れが素晴らしい。改めてＵＦＯの素晴らしさ、マイケルの天才ぶり(ギタープレイ、作曲面共々)が手に取るように判る。全曲文句なしですが、特にお勧めは隠れた名曲｢オンウィズジアクション｣や劇的な｢トライミー｣あたりでしょうか・・・。

次にＭＳＧですが、こちらも年代順の収録となっています。いきなりドラムスにあのコージーパウエルを従えたライヴバージョンの｢アームドアンドレディ」、｢イントゥジアリーナ｣で始まる構成は圧巻。この2曲は｢ワンナイトアット武道館｣とは違うバージョンであり、貴重です。その他にも名曲中の名曲｢クライフォーザネイションズ｣、個人的に特にお勧めの｢ルッキングアウトフロームノーホエア｣(ギターの泣きが凄いよ！)、コージーとマイケルの激突が凄まじい｢ルッキングフォーラヴ｣、グラハムボネット参加の｢黙示録｣アルバムからの3曲(8~10)の緊張感溢れる完璧な流れ、そしてインスト史上に残る名曲｢キャプテンネモ｣等やはり素晴らしいです。

マイケルシェンカー初心者の方はまずこの2枚組から入り、気に入ったら個々のオリジナルアルバムに入っていくのが良いと思います。
必聴盤です。

先日（９月２１日）、スコーピオンズの約１０年ぶりの来日コンサートに行ってきた。ハードロック全盛の８０年代後半の熱気そのままに会場は興奮のるつぼと化し、兄ルドルフシェンカーもノリノリでフライングＶを引き奏でたのだった。

興奮冷めやらず、帰宅してすぐ取り出したのがこのアルバム。スコーピオンズも大好きだが、フライングＶと言えば、マイケルシェンカー。そして、マイケルの魅力をこれでもかと詰め込んだのがこのアルバムなのだ。ＵＦＯ時代の名曲から、ＭＳＧのヒット曲まで、この１枚でマイケルのむせび泣くフライングＶのサウンドを堪能できる。

このアルバムに収録されているＵＦＯ版とＭＳＧ版のドクター・ドクターを聞き比べながら、マイケルって良いよな、ルドルフって良いよな、と感慨にふけったのだった。

マイケルファンならずとも、ハードロック好きなら、この１枚をオススメしたい。

マイケル・シェンカーが、なぜ神と言われるのか…。このアルバムがすべてを語っている。他にも名盤があるが、あえてこれはお薦めだ!余談だが昔、某ショップにて、このアルバムがMSGコーナーに見当たらず英雄伝説がどういう訳か、村田英雄のコーナーから発見された事があった。
