今ではあまり触れられることもないこの１stだけど、大変な名盤ですよ、これは！とにかく1曲目から美メロの連続のオン・パレード！どこをとっても名曲ばかりが飛び出す充実作です。ネオアコ名盤としてもかなり上位に位置する名盤だと思います。Stone Rosesの１stが最高という人は是非聴いてみて下さい。旧盤にはコーネリアスがタイトルをいただいた事で知られるStar Fruits Surf Riderという曲が入ってました。
　尚、そのStar Fruits~、このデビュー作以前にシングルでのみリリースされていた名曲Crystal Crescent、Velocity Girlの3曲は日本編集のネオアコ･オムニバス名シリーズ「ギター･ポップ･ジャンボリー」の「ソニー編」「ワーナー編」にそれぞれ収録されています。興味のある方はそちらもどうぞ。ホーン等も入ったさらに甘いポップスが聴けますよ！

　ボビー達の目指したサウンドは今となっては意外かもしれないがザ・バーズでした。しかし、出来あがったサウンドは、悩ましいヘナヘナギターポップ。

　時には不安定で、覇気のない、しかし透き通るような、ボビーのヴォーカル。様式美に拘る12弦エレキギター。曲そのものの味が薄いかもしれないですが、聞いていると、なんだかとっても清々しい気分です。ギターサウンドに救われてます。

ギターポップの名盤と言われる本作は、ちょっと躊躇いながらでもどんな人にでも勧められるアルバムです。12弦ギターの美しい響きとノスタルジックなメロディーは、心のどこかに眠っている優しさや切なさを動かしてくれます。ギターポップ少年・少女だけの愛聴盤にしておくにはもったいないのです。

いつの間にかマッチョなイメージになってしまった彼らは、このファーストだけはどうにかして抹殺したいらしくベスト盤にも一曲も取り上げられてませんが、是非聴いて欲しいアルバムです。
