Limited edition Japanese nine track mini album in a thick cardboard gatefold sleeve features a two sided full color booklet that folds out into a 10' x 14' poster! Contains a reworked new version of 'Airplane' entitled 'Airplane 96' and eight new tracks. Also includes an 'Absolutely Freedom' sticker.

96年発表のミニアルバム。

ピチカートファイブはおしゃれなフレンチ・ポップス
みたいな曲をやるグループ、というくらいの認識しか
持たずにこれを聴いたとき、突然のギターサウンドに
「これがピチカートぉ！？」と驚いた『airplane'96』。
歌詞もぶっ飛んでる。何より演奏してる側がぶっ飛んでる。
ラストの歓声(雄叫び？)がその証だろう。
(このハチャメチャな歓声は５曲目でも聴くことができる)
そして２曲目『domino』。こんな風に日常感・けだるさ
とおしゃれ感を同居させられるのは野宮真貴だからこそ
出せるピチカートファイブ最大の魅力の一つだと思う。
８曲目の『子供たちの子供たちのこどもたちへ』は
真夜中に小さな音で聴きたい名曲。

疾走感あり、午後のひととき的スローナンバーありで
純粋に楽しめる１枚。
硬派なロックファンにもオススメできる作品だ。

このCDの聴き所のひとつとして、私はチキン･カレーをあげます。
チキン･カレー、実は歌ではないのです!
それじゃあ何かと申しますと、小西さんと野宮さんの会話、なんです。
会話の内容?それは申し上げできません、楽しみが減るでしょ?
聴くしかないんじゃない?うずうずしてきているでしょ？

そう、うずうず。がっかりなんてもちろんさせない、pizzicato fiveの基本ですよね。

エアプレイン'96、バンド形式で聴くと、本当に、本当にいい曲だって再発見できますよ?
ただ、9曲で終わっちゃうのが残念。エンドレスで流して聴いてくださいね。
