　このカナダ版は、自分の持っているほかのファントムＣＤ数枚と比べ、とにかく楽曲の演奏が抜群に美しい。軽やかで、メロに強弱のメリハリがあり、非常に繊細な演奏となっています（曲にあわせて歌うのではなく、歌にあわせて演奏している為？）。曲の鑑賞のために、ぜひ爆音で聞いてみて下さい（笑）。

歌は(いかにオペラっぽく歌うかではなく)、感情表現という意味において、ファントムもクリスティーヌも激ウマです。演技重視系です。前半よりも、後半が物凄く良いです。

　(他ﾌｧﾝﾄﾑCDに比べ、)全体的に哀愁漂う物静かなファントムです。しかし後半は狂人の雰囲気を醸し出しているわ、怖いわ哀れだわ、演技上手すぎでカッコいいです。特に「You try my patience make your choice!」(劇団四季CDでは「選べ」)のセリフは、自分がクリスでその状況で言われたら間違いなく恐怖で泣くね。と言う位怖いです(他でここまで怖いのは知らない)。
　クリスティーヌも印象的で、特に「ラウル！」と呼ぶ声が物凄く可愛らしい。泣いているのか、怒っているのか、愛しているのかがハッキリわかる表現力。ただし大人声なので、少女っぽさがないと嫌な人には合わないかも。２人の（歌の）絡みは非常に良いです。残念ながらあまりラウルは印象に残らない。

オペラ座の怪人という作品は、とにかくオペラ~~~な歌いっぷりで、演奏もダイナミックでなければ嫌だ！！という人には向かないかも。でも、この作品に『繊細さ』を求める方なら、ぜひ。

満足です！　曲目を見ればわかるようにCD一枚のハイライト盤ですが、音楽として聞くにはハイライトの方がちょうど良いですね。

ファントムのコルム・ウィルキンソンは『レ・ミゼラブル』ジャン・バルジャン役の初演キャストとして有名な方です。（他作品の話ですみません）　苦悩し慈愛に溢れたバルジャンそのものとも言われる方ですので、このファントムもそれを踏まえるとイメージしやすいかも知れません。

ファントムとしては年齢が高めで（声の印象です）、クリスティーヌとは父娘かそれ以上の年齢差に感じます。朗々と歌い上げるのではなく、一語一語を噛みしめるように感情を籠めた歌い方です。彼独特の掠れ声や震え声の混じる歌は、全体に強い哀しみを感じました。この後すぐに哀しみのあまり弱って死んでしまったのではないか・・・そう思わされるファントムでした。
ですからファントムに色気や艶のある美声を求める方には物足りないかも知れません。ですが情感に溢れ、聞いているだけで涙ぐんでしまうような雰囲気があります。

スタジオ録音ですが、オーケストラも素晴らしいです。人数を減らしたりはせずにきちんと録音したようです。
音の大小にはかなり差があります。音量をかなり上げておかないと囁き部分は聞こえず、そのままだと今度は叫び声の大きさに焦るというようなことがあります。(笑)

原作のイメージに近いファントム像かも。映画盤のような若々しさはこのＣＤにはありません。しかしファントムとクリスティーヌの表現力はすばらしく、実際に舞台で観ているかのような臨場感です。後半はこの2人にどんどん引き込まれていってしまいます。特にファントムの声・歌い方が素敵で自分の持っている中では1番良いと思います。ただし、おじさまファントムです。そして、端役ですがピアンジ氏もなかなかの美声。英語の歌詞付で、嬉しかったのは歌詞のシーンに合わせて小さい白黒ですが舞台写真が載っている事。全体的にキャストの声の印象は年齢高めに感じました。
