８５年の大ヒット作「ウエスト・エンド・ガールズ」を筆頭に
９１年までのシングル作品が収録された本作品は、
８０年代洋楽を聴いてる方なら耳にしたことのある曲ばかり！！
特に、私は123が大好きです。
シンセのビートと独特のアンニュイなヴォーカルが
とっても耳に心地好いのです。

ペット・ショップ・ボーイズを聴いてみようかな？

とお思いの方には、まずはこの一枚をおすすめいたします。

アルバムBehaviourまでのシングル集大成ベストアルバムです。
１９９１年初発の時は、CD収録最大限まで曲が入っており、ナントお得なアルバムかと感心したものです。
繰り返しこのアルバムを聴いていると、PSBサウンドワールドへ迷い込み、のめり込んでしまいます。
一種のサウンド中毒症状を引き起こします。PSBにはそんな魔力があるのです。危険です！！
いったん中毒になると、高額出資という泥沼が待っていますゾ！！わたしのように…
このベスト、最近のPopArtが出るまではホントによく聴きました。
美味しい曲が満載です。PSB入門用にも最適ではないでしょうか。
マニアックには、Heartがシングルバージョンであることと、
PopArt未収録だったWas It Worth It?が聴けることで貴重なアルバムでもあります。
全１８曲のラストを前向きイメージのWas It Worth It?で締めているところが、実にニクい演出ですね。

白状するが、彼らの音楽をろくに聞きもしないで、馬鹿にしていた時期があった。今では、猛反省している。世の中には、こんなにもすばらしくセンスの良い音楽があるものだ・・というのが素直な印象である。この作品は初期のシングル盤をあつめたもので、有名曲ばかりだ。名刺がわりの１枚みたいなもので、初心者の方にも安心しておすすめできる。ペット・ショップ・ボーイズの特徴は、１、歌が異常にさわやかで上手い、２、曲・メロディがせつない感じで良い、３、ビートが軽快だがスカスカにならない、４、エレガントで高級感がある（かといってゴージャス、バブリー感はない）だと感じている。皆さんも、彼らの世界にハマッてみてはいかがでしょうか？
