　現在はどちらかと言えばゆったりとした曲を多く演奏するようになったゲイリー・ムーア。彼はギターだけでなくヴォーカルも上手いため、最近は自ら歌うことが多い。渋みのある高音にタメの効いたギター。これはこれで素晴らしい。しかし、かつては、ギンギンのギターでキッズを熱狂させる、ハードロッカーだったのだ。このアルバムはそんな彼の全盛期プレイが聴ける名作の一つ。

　ミュージシャンを食い物にすることで悪名高い、JET Records時代の作品で、録音当初はお蔵入りになっていた。収録曲に原爆をテーマにした「ヒロシマ」という曲が収録されていたからか、1983年に突如、レア・アイテムとして日本のみで発売され、漸く陽の目を見た。

　ヴォーカルはチャーリー・ハーン。ベースにジミー・ベイン、キーボードにドン・エイリー、ドラムにトミー・アルドリッチと、そうそうたる面子が揃っている。特に、チャーリー・ハーンの絶唱はこのアルバムに特別な力を与えている。

　オープニングは「ヒロシマ」。♪あの“リトル・ボーイ（爆弾）”が生まれ落ちた日のことを忘れない　♪罪なき市民が焼かれた　♪口のきけない子供がたくさん生まれた　♪死神が舞い降りた日、彼らは胎内に居た　縦横無尽に駆けめぐるギター、空間を突き抜けるヒステリックな高音。反戦を歌うこの曲は衝撃的だ。

　唯一お蔵入りを免れた「ニュークリア・アタック」（核攻撃）も素晴らしい。♪ボタン一つで、世界は闇と化すだろう　絞り上げるコーラスの高音は迫力十分だ。

　大作「レスト・イン・ピース」では、現在の彼に通じる「引き」のプレイが楽しめる。個々の曲も素晴らしいし、アルバム全体としても起承転結がしっかりと描かれている。満足感が高いアルバムだ。これだけの作品が2年もの間、倉庫に眠っているとは…。ブルース・ディッキンソンの幻のソロ2作目もそうだし、世の中には理解不能の理由で発売されなかった音源がまだまだあるのだろう。

不遇のＪＥＴ（レーベル）時代完成していたにもかかわらずボツにされていた幻のアルバム・・・１９８３年日本でのみ発売されました。本当に陽の目を見てよかった！！大ヒット作「コリダーズオブパワー」の原型になったアルバムと言えましょう。チャーリーハーン（ｖｏ）・ジミーベイン（ｂ）・ドンエイリー（ｋｅｙ）・トミーアルドリッジ（ｄｒ）といった強力メンバーが参加してます。２曲目はホワイトナックルズタイプの超絶無伴奏弾きまくりの曲！！参考までに、１２インチで発売された「ニュークリアアタック」収録・・・グレッグレイクとのコラボレーションアルバムの最初を飾っていましたね！！

初めて聞いたのは，中学生の頃だった．
超速の２：ダーティーフィンガーズのリフが，耳から離れなくなった．
４：悲しき願いは，尾藤イサオの曲じゃあなかった．
５：，６：，７：と，ほとんどアルバム一枚の曲を口ずさんでた．
でも，レコードを買うお金もなく，
頭の中だけに記憶として残り続けていた．
いくら，ゲイリー・ムーアの新譜をきいても，
このアルバム以上のものはなかった．
今になって，僕はこのアルバムに帰ってきた．やっと．
