メタリカの３ｒｄアルバムです。前作までのドスの効いた攻撃的ボーカル、過激で攻撃的なギターリフはそのままに、リズムセクションがより重みを増したＨＭの傑作アルバムです。

前作に比べ、スピード感という点ではややスローになりましたが、その分、曲展開が複雑さを増し、何れもが５分を超える大作となっており、トータルの聴き応えという点ではより魅力を増しています。
メタリカの最高傑作に押されることも多い名作ですので、ＨＭファンであれば、是非一聴ください。

このアルバムに関しては、皆さん、語り尽くせぬ思いがおありですよね。私にとっては、ヘビィメタルの不朽の名作に出会えた喜びを本当に実感させてくれた大切なアルバムです。
アルバム｢MASTER OF PUPPETS｣の最大の魅力とは、曲ごとの構成美と作曲力にあるのではないでしょうか。退屈など論外で、ジェイムズのアグレッシブなギターリフとシャウト、カークのオリエンタルチックでこの曲にはコレしか浮かばないと思わせるソロ、クリフの指で弾いているとは思えないスピードに乗った美しいベースライン、ラーズのややこしい(笑)中にもキャッチーでための効いたドラミング、どちらかと言えば、速い曲ばかりを追い求めていた私に、速さだけでは決して辿り着けない領域の音楽を心行くまで堪能させてくれたアルバムです。発売されてから二十年近くにもなろうこのアルバム、その月日を考えると、初めて聴く人にもきっと感動を与えてくれるでしょう。
