御存じ世界的なバンドクィーンの天才ギタリスト、彼のソロ用のバンドをバックに従えてのアルバム。まず嬉しいのは彼の暖かい性格丸出しの優しさ溢れる声である。これだけで安心できる。日本ではブライアンのギターの凄さはあまり評価されていない感じがするのでこれを書いています。彼のギターの凄いところは、音色の独自性もそうだけれど、工夫に工夫を重ねた彼だけしか出せない分厚いトーンにある。それだけではないかっこよすぎるリフ＋むだの一切ない曲間のソロ＝これが毎回完成度がめちゃめちゃ高い。知性に裏打ちされた絶妙なソロなのだ。でこのアルバムでもそういった彼のすばらしい部分は多くの曲で聞ける。クィーンの曲も数多く演奏しているが必殺のパワーコード炸裂のナンバーが中心だ。特にTIE YOUR MOTHER DOWNは名曲。アコーステックギターの名手であるのも特筆ものなのだ。そこも十分味わえる構成になっている。この文章を天国のコージーパウエルとフレディーマーキュリーに捧げる。ブライアンメイはあふれんばかりの情熱でギターを通じて天国のフレディーに語りかけている＝おれはおれで精一杯やると＝　　臨場感ばっちりなので昔からのコアなクィーンファンのかたがたにぜひともおすすめいたします。

１９９４年リリースのブライアンメイバンドのほぼワンステージを収録したライブアルバム（映像も有りました！！）・・・１９９３年６月ソロとして初めてのライブで、とにかく素晴らしい出来栄えです！！自身のソロアルバムからの楽曲とＱＵＥＥＮの楽曲が絶妙なバランスで配置されており、心地よい充実感を味わえる内容になっています。メンバーは、ブライアンメイ（Ｇ・Ｖｏ）・コージーパウエル（Ｄｒ）・ニールマーレイ（Ｂ）・スパイクエドニー（Ｋｅｙ）・ジェイミーモーゼス（Ｇ・Ｖｏ）と美形女性コーラス２名・・・なんといってもコージーとニールのリズムセクションが嬉しいですよね！！６曲目「ラヴオブマイライフ」はフレディに捧げられており（オペラ座の夜収録）、会場大合唱に涙する曲・・一緒に歌える本場のファンの凄さを痛感されられました！！９曲目はなんとＲＡＩＮＢＯＷ「シンスユービーンゴーン」で、コージーファンへのサービスでしょう・・・彼にとって曰く付の曲ではありますが、楽しんで演奏していたと感じます、笑。最大の聴き物は１２曲目１０分にわたる大熱演の「レザレクション」（華麗なる復活）・・・コージー炸裂の曲で、チャイコフスキー「１８１２」をフューチャーしたドラムソロが凄い！！またボヘミアンラプソディの後半部分がプレイされているのも、ライブならではの嬉しい曲です・・・リハーサルを十分に行ってのステージですよね！！ＱＵＥＥＮのハードロック色を醸し出していたのは、ブライアンだったんだなあと再認識させられました・・・３曲目「タイユアマザーダウン」と１０曲目「ナウアイムヒア」をライブで聴けて個人的に大満足、いやあかっこいい！！これはライブの名盤です・・・本当素晴らしい！！

クイーン解散後にブライアン･メイはソロ･アルバム『バック･トゥ･ザ･ライト』を１９９２年に発表して”ブライアン･メイ･バンド”を結成。メンバーはブライアン･メイ（L･G兼L･Vo）、ジェイミー･モーゼス（S･G兼B･Vo）、ニール･マーレイ（B･G）、スパイク･エドニー（Key兼B･Vo）、コージー･パウエル（D）、そしてクイーン初期〜中期のブ厚いハイトーン･コーラスを再現するために女性B･Voのキャシィー･ポーターとシェリィー･プレストンの２名を加えた計７名だ。

当ライブ･アルバムは１９９３年６月１５日に行われたブリクストン･アカデミー公演を収録したもので、ＣＤ収録時間の制限でジョン･レノンの曲と一部ＭＣをカットしたが、ほぼ完全版に近い内容となっている。サウンドや各音源のバランス、そして音質などは非常に良い。
クイーンばりのブ厚いコーラス･ワークとブライアンのスケール感あるヘヴィなプレイ及びサウンドがかなりの特色を出している。バンド全体的にみれば、初期のクイーンをもっと壮大にした感じであり、その大変壮大なスケールとドラマテイックな大迫力のサウンドをどの曲も乱れのない素晴らしい演奏とアンサンブルで演出している。
セット･リスト曲はブライアンのソロ･アルバム曲とクイーンの曲の割合が半々で、どれも素晴らしい展開のアレンジと迫力の演奏だ。特にクイーンのハード曲はもろにスタジオ･アルバムを再現しているが、それ以上のスリリングさだ。コージーのドラム･ソロも凄く”１８１２年”まで聴ける凄いステージだ。しかしコージーの死でバンドは消滅した。

当コーナーのアイテムは１９９４年に発売された米国盤である。
