（日本盤は１５曲とボーナストラック付なのでマニアは注意！！）１９９２年リリースのエレクトラ移籍第１弾アルバム・・・いつも思いますがジャケットセンスがとにかく最悪、なんとかして欲しいです（笑）！！１曲目から自信のあらわれなのかインストチューンから始まるこのアルバム、全１４曲とボリュームたっぷりの内容です・・・正直、聴き通すのは辛い！！かなり気合いが入っているのですが、ソングライティングが弱い（勿論テクは最高）為印象に残る曲が少ないです・・・ちょっとマニアックな楽曲になってしまうんですよね。バンドメンバーが全員スウェーデン人という事もあってか、バンド然としたサウンドは、北欧メタルの王道と言う感じになっているのが興味深かったです！！内情はわかりませんが!、!結構楽しんで制作したのでは・・・コミュニケーションが取りやすかったと感じます。個人的には３曲目ポップな「ティーザー」のアプローチが良かったです・・・こういう曲でのイングヴェイのギターは、なかなか素晴らしいです！！８曲目「レピヤダー」は彼らしい超絶インストチューンで、この人ならではの弾きまくり曲！！１０曲目「フォーエヴァーイズアロングタイム」は疾走感溢れるヘヴィメタルナンバー・・・なんかＲＩＯＴしてます（笑）！！１０曲にまとめた方が、アルバムとしてまとまったかなと言うのが正直な印象でした・・・それにしても演奏レベルはとんでもないギタリストだとまたまた認識させられました！！！！

ＹＮＧＷＩＥの作品では、山にうずもれてしまいそうな評価
しかもらえていない作品。
筆者は結構聴き込んだので、それよりも上に持っていって
あげます。
御大はとにかく、ギターを弾きまくっています。縦横無尽です。
ミディアムテンポの曲が多いので、彼の音ひとつひとつが堪能
できるアルバムであるともいえるでしょう。
ツボとしては、3ティーザーでしょう。非常によくできた
ポップチューンです。筆者がハマッタ曲は、実は4ＨＯＷ
ＭＡＮＹ　ＭＩＬＥＳ　ＴＯ　ＢＡＢＹＬＯＮなんです。
なんか、耳にこのコーラスが残るんですよね・・

ただ、この作品の最大の問題は抑揚がなく、起伏のない、
白けたボーカルです。もっと魂の入った歌唱があれば、
もうちょっと、世間はいい評価をしたのではないのかな・・・
と、残念に思います。おまけで☆４ツです。

前作「エクリプス」に引き続き（メンバーチェンジはしているものの）バンドメンバー全員スウェーデン人というラインナップで作られた、イングヴェイのソロ７枚目。いきなりのインスト曲"perpetual"が”何か”を期待させるオープニング。。。でも、その期待はやや裏切られます。全体に哀愁漂うミドル・テンポの曲が多く、スピーディ＆パワーのある曲が少なく感じます。と、言うか、せっかくのパワーソングもヨラン・エドマンの弱弱しいボーカルが魅力を損ねているような。。前作ではもっとうまいと思ったけどなあ。。一般的にはイングヴェイのアルバムの中ではあまり評価の高くない作品です。

でも、今回久しぶりに聴いてみたけど、結構いいかも。曲のレベルもそこそこだし（彼にはもっと高いレベルを期待してしまうんですけどね）。私的には"no mercy","forever is a long time"なんかが好みです。曲はやっぱり多すぎですね。
