1994年発表の2nd。日本でのデビュー作。
重いリフからハードなメロディとコーラスが映える(1)、(2)、爽やかな(3)、テクニカルな演奏とジェットコースターのように目まぐるしく駆け巡る展開を楽しめる(4)、ドラマーのダレン・スミスがヴォーカルを取る、軽く憂いがかったHRの(5)、ピート・レスペランスの陰影深いギターインスト曲の(6)、美しいコーラス主体のバラードの(8)、何とHRバンドなのにメンバー全員の美しいアカペラのみで歌いきってしまう(9)と、捨て曲が一曲もないどころかHRとして欠点が見当たらないアルバム。メンバー全員が優秀なメロディメイカーであり、演奏技術も高いところも90年代のクイーン〜ジャーニーの位置を占めるのにふさわしい。1000万枚以上ヒットしたデフ・レパードの「ヒステリア」やジャーニーの「エスケイプ」に勝るとも劣らない出来である（事実総合的な演奏技術や作曲能力は彼ら以上だ）。この作品をを聴いてもう10年以上経つが、未だにこの感想は変わらない。

しかし、本作のセールスはその100分の1行ったかどうか。グランジ全盛期だからなどと当時のレコード会社は本作の発売を渋ったそうだが、ジャーニーの「トライバル・バイ・ファイアー」がアメリカでプラチナムを95年に獲得しているため、売れなかったのは全てレコード会社の宣伝戦略のまずさのせいだろう。この内容で売れなかったことが、バンドに不安を与え、長く自分たちの方向性に苦しんでいくことになる。

カナダのmelodic rockの最高峰である。後に何枚かのCDを出すが、これが最高傑作というリスナーが多い。事実、全曲捨て曲なしの名盤である。melodic rockが好きな、もしくは melodyを重視するROCKが好きな方にぜひ聞いてもらいたい作品です。
