　ロンドン出身の女性シンガー・ソングライターの、アップル・スタジオにて録音された72年の傑作２nd。幼げでキュートかつナチュラルなリンダ・ルイスの歌声が、本当に輝いています。すっと耳から入り込んできて、極上の心地良さを感じさせてくれます。フォークやソウル、R＆Bなどの要素が散りばめられた楽曲、彼女の魅力的な５オクターブの声と見事に呼応する繊細なバックの演奏も最高。とにかく細かい理屈は抜きにして、多くの人に聴いてほしい屈指の名盤です。

中村とうよう氏が絶賛･･･というよりも、フリーソウル系が
爆発的に流行した時期の象徴的存在でもあったリンダ・ルイス。
「フォーキー」という言葉に乗って再評価された際に出た
国内盤CDは『とにかく何でもいいから聴かせてくれ』という
多くのリスナーにとって、忘れられない一枚となった。
しかし、マスターの状態が思ったより良くなかったのか、
1曲目の感動的な名曲「Spring Song」は、アコギの音が
割れてしまうのが残念だった。これは好ベスト盤「Reach〜」
や、（RHINOをもってしても駄目だった･･･）今年の国内盤の
CD再発盤でも改善されておらず元々のマスターのせいだと
半ば諦めていたのですが･･･

流石RHINO。傍系のCollectors' Choice盤でやってくれました！
若干ダイナミズムは失われた感はありますが、1曲目は文字通り
鳥の囀りの様なアコースティック・ギターが聴けます。
半信半疑で買いましたが、良い仕事でした。感激！

やはり、キャロル・キング『つづれおり』、ジョニ・ミッチェル『ブルー』『コート・アンド・スパーク』、ローラ・二ーロ『ニューヨーク・テンダベリー』とともに聴いておくべき女性シンガー／ソングライターの名盤だと思います。
雰囲気は、リッキー・リー・ジョーンズあたりと近いです。
ダンス＆ソウルに分類されていますが、でも、ダンサブルなのではなく、それだけメロウにレイドバックされたサウンドだということです。
デジタル・リマスター済み。
