The album was first released on Virgin as well.

　当時、音楽の知識も然程ない学生の一人、デビット・カニンガム自らの『 感性 』と『 手法 』で手掛けてしまった作品で、方法論や固定概念などに捕われる事無く『 The Flying Lizards 』 という名のBANDを見立てて、自由な発想で造られている。
言い方を変えれば、素人が自らの感性を信じて造った趣味的な作品と言えるが、その『 質 』よりも『 発想 』であり、当時、今まで誰もやらなかった事や方法が本作に詰め込まれている。

　音楽的な知識や金が無くとも、「どーだ、こんなの造ってやった」と言わんばかりの作品で、他の素人には音楽の可能性を、スタジオミュージシャンなどから、知識無くとも感性でやって退けてしまった『 音 』には大変驚かされたと言う。
　聴く人によってはチープに聞こえるかも知れないが、本作を今だ、このタイトルの名を上げる人が多いのではないだろうか？
　また、素人ならではの『 ユーモアさ 』も持ち合わせており、音造りの自由さや発想など、これからの作曲者にも大変参考となる発想的作品ではないかと言えます。
　
本作は 1980年に発表された作品で『The Flying Lizards 』の１ｓｔになりますが、僅か6ポンドで仕上げた『 MONEY 』、夏の暑さにも似たやる気の無さが良い味を出している『 SUMMERTIME BLUES 』 のカバーも彼の感性で見事に調理されているが、あまり古臭ささを感じさせず見事。
　当時は全10曲盤でしたが、本作はボーナストラックとして 11．ALL GUITARS　12．TUBU　13．MONEY　シングル盤B面の3曲が追加された全13曲盤になります。

これとは別収録ですが、全曲カバーのみが収録された『TOP TEN』という非情にひにくったタイトルのアルバムに収録の 『 Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine 』（ジェームス・ブラウン）には見事ハメられました。

1990年発表。ロンドンのストリート・アンド・ブリックストン・スタジオで録音したものにニュー・ヨーク、ミュンヘン等で録音したものを追加している。
すべては北アイルランド出身の美術学校生デビット・カニンガム一人のしわざである。全英5位・全米34位に輝いた『マネー』や『サマー・タイムブルース』の真四角の箱の中で閉じこもって歌っているような作風は実にアーティステックだった。
本作にはシングル・カット盤の方の『マネー』やB面収録曲も収録されていて20ビット/88.2kHzのサンプリング処理されていてファンとしても文句無しの取り組みだ。80年代のアートの香りいっぱいの傑作だ。

FLの最高傑作！プリセットのサンプリングには無いアナログらしさを十分に堪能できる1枚。
80年代はこれを聴かずして語ることは出来ない！
カッコ良すぎです。
