　エレジーは気になっていたバンドで本作で初めてそのサウンドを耳にした。このアルバムはタイトルを云われただけで即、ほぼ全曲、音を思い出せる。プログレッシヴかつハードでありながらメロディとリズムアレンジが秀逸なためだ。技巧派とされるヘンクのギターは雑誌などではソロプレイが主に話題にされていたがリズムが素晴らしく曲はイメージを喚起する壮大なものとなっている。ヘンクだけが素晴らしいのでないのはファンにとっては周知だろう。ヘンクは脱退したがエレジーでの彼のプレイに対する評価は揺るがないだろう。

'97年発表、ミニ･アルバムを挟んでの4th。
ヴォーカルがイアン・パリーに交代しての初のフル・アルバム。

１のRhapsodyばりにシンフォニックなイントロから、ヘヴィでスローではあるが非常にドラマティックな２に繋がる構成が、今までのElegyとの違いを強く意識させられる。

疾走曲は皆無だが、アップ・テンポの３、５や、バラードの８、その他のミドル〜スロー・テンポな曲も、一曲一曲が多彩な個性を放ち、非常に色彩豊かなアルバム。

高音部では少々無理してる感のあった前任ヴォーカル、エドワードに比べ、イアンはさすがキャリアを積んだベテランというべきか。パワーと安定感、感情表現という点においてはやはりイアンの方に軍配が上がる。

スピードは抑え目だが(しかし技巧派ヘンクの速弾きは健在)、メロディアスでプログレッシヴ。この手のバンドだとついおろそかになりがちなリフ／リズムのアレンジもよく練られている。

アルバムの完成度という点では本作が一番かも。
