「裏ポップ・ベストアルバム」とタイトルに書きましたが、裏ポップなんて枠組みに収まる良さではありません。ただただ素晴らしい。なぜ、このアルバムが今のような知名度の低さに甘んじているのか、21世紀初頭の大問題です。そういった意味では「20世紀」との表現も正しくはありません。発売から10年近く経った今でも抜群なポップセンスは、もっと多くの人へ届くべき。これは私の世迷言ではありません。インターネットで「DOOPEES」を検索してみてください。たくさんのラブコールが現われます。

はい、アンドロイド・シスターズをきっかけに聴きなおしたクチです。（笑

キャロラインちゃんの正体など、今でも様々な真偽不明の噂がとびかっていることでも、この作品の話題性がうかがえますよね！
キャロラインちゃんに関しては歌唱力よりも表現力の点で驚かされます。
揺れ動く乙女心、「MY SPINING WHEEL」、クライマックスの「NOW THAT YOU'VE GONE」では感動で涙が出そう！！
機械で本物よりロリータに加工されているにしても、おそらく少女には違いないですからね~ホント驚きです。

ひとつひとつのトラックの出来も最高だけど、通して聴くと、ふわふわドキドキの世界に浸っているうちに、「AIR VIVES」あたりからは胸がキュンとして来て、「THROUGH MY WINDOW」まで来ればキャロラインちゃんとのお別れがさびしくなってくるのです。
ＣＤなんだから何度でも聴けるにも関わらず。
これはまさにスゴク面白い本の最後の１ページを読み終わってしまうときの切なさ。

あ、思い出したらまた聴きたくなっちゃった。

スージーキムさんともう一人、唄っているキャロライン・ノバクの声は、
バッファロー・ドーターの大野由美子さんのヴォーカルをさらに加工したもの
ということがちょっと前に明らかにされたところですが、
その正体云々は置いておいても、とおしてこのアルバムを聴いて、
何かの映画を見終えた感じになります。

ロネッツの曲を本家よりさらに幼い歌声で再現した3曲目に
ノックアウトされました。
17曲目のNow That You've Gone もいい曲ですね。
このメロディにこういう歌声を乗っけてしまう企画がスゴイと思いました。
これのオリジナルも聴いてみたいのですが、誰の歌なのでしょう？
ご存じの方がいたら教えてください。
