バカラックの曲の中でも "The April Fools" が好きという人は
結構多いと思う。ところが、この曲はなぜかAmasonの検索では
引っかからない。聞きたくても聞けない幻の名曲だった。

もともと、「幸せはパリで」のテーマ曲で、
ディオンヌ・ワーウィックが歌っていたようなのだが、
契約の関係でサントラ盤には、パーシーフェイス版が
収録されたようだ。それがけちの付き始めか、
なかなかこの曲の収録CDを探すことが難しくなっていた。

ところが、この紙ジャケCDで聞けるのだ。
また、この御本家バカラック版の"The April Fools"はインストルメンタルだが、
ピアノが絶妙で最高に美しい。是非聞いて欲しい。

同曲以外にも、ライ・クーダやニコレット・ラーソンのカバーした
"Mexican Divorce"などが収録されている。

バカラックの自作自演アルバムは、どれも素晴らしい。このアルバムも良い曲が多く、他のミュージシャンでヒットした曲もあります。個人的には、バカラックの娘（ジャケット裏に小さく移っています）のニックネームをつけた「ニッキ」が、バロックトランペットを使った可愛い曲で大好きです。バカラックは、その才能が素晴らしく、多くのミュージシャンが敬意をはらっています。価格も安く、お買い得です。

こんなマジヤベェ傑作を廃盤はマジヤバマックス！っしょ！お馴染みの「遥かな影」・「ワイヴス＆ラヴァーズ」をアレンジ変えてセルフカバ〜っすが、やっぱ聴き所は書下ろしの「ハズブルック・ハイツ」と映画『幸せはパリで』（この映画もマジ観てぇ〜ぇぇぃ・・・）の主題歌「エイプリル・フール」に、娘に捧げたインスト「ニッキ」の３曲っしょ！「ハズブルック・ハイツ」はバカラック自分で歌いまくりでちょっとしゃがれた相変わらずのダンデぃりボイスにファンにんまりズム全開っしょ！この人の歌い方聴いてるとナルシズムでなく自分のことマジ好きで堪らねぇ感溢れまくりで、うまくはないんだけど聴いてて癒されますねぇ〜ぇぇぃ・・・「エイプリル・フール」はオリジナルはディオンヌ・ワーウィックが歌ってるらしいっすが（マジ聴きてぇ！）これはインストっす！バカラック自弾きのピアノとストリングの絡みが雨上がりの爽やかサンシャ〜インっつーぐれぇ聴いてて気持ちいっす！「ニッキ」は可愛い可愛い小品っすねぇ〜ぇぇぃ・・・娘への可愛がりまくり具合よう出てまっす！名盤『明日に向かって撃て！』の頃出たアルバムっすから多分一番脂乗りまくり乗りまくり期のバカラック堪能できまっす！バカラック、マジでサイコサイコサイコッ！ＹＥＡＨ！！！
