よくできたアルバムではある。が,対抗馬ブラーの新作同様,妙にこぢんまりとしたまとまり方で,どうしても食い足りなさが残ってしまう。ビートルズ云々の比較はともかく,若いんだから,やっぱりもう少しハミ出したところがないとオジサンには楽しめない。

メロディの美しさばかりにとらわれがちだが、ノエルが書く歌詞ってなんて素晴らしい
んだろう。特に好きなのはシャンパン・スーパーノヴァなんだけど、この歌詞は物事を
切ないぐらいに達観しすぎてる。本当に素晴らしい歌詞だ。この曲はポール・ウェラー
がギターで参加してるけど、最後に素晴らしいギターソロを聴かせてくれる。それが
切ない歌詞とあいまって・・・ほんと泣ける・・・。

良い曲が出来たとする。
存在するのはコードとメロディーと歌詞だけだ。
そしてその曲を殆どそのままの形で叩きつける。
そんな方法が通用するのは、現在ではoasisだけだと思う。

センスの良いアレンジも当たり前だが重要である。
だけど、手を加える前の段階での曲のクオリティーが群を抜いていたとしたら、もうそれでそれ以上の物は無いのだと思う。

もちろんこのアルバムでもアレンジを加えて我々の前に提示されるモノが、曲である。
しかし、このアルバムで感じることが出来るのは、剥き出しのままの曲達である。

もちろん音楽は様々な要素が絡まって出来上がっている物だと思う。
リズムでありキーでありエフェクトである。
しかし、最後に人の心の捉えるのは、結局の所、歌なのではないかと感じる。

リアムの声を聞いていると、そう思わずには居られない。

デビューアルバム後のOASISへの周囲の期待はもちろん高かったわけだけれども、彼らはそんなものを遥かに超えた高いレベル楽曲が詰め込まれたこのアルバムをリリースし、驚きとともに高い評価を得た。
そして、もちろん売れた、それも全世界で。（売れたとい事は重要。だってこのアルバムがRockのスタンダードになったんだから）

OASISが本当の意味で僕たちみんなのバンドになった記念すべき作品。

内容はというと、全曲良い！1.ハローから12.シャンパン・スーパーノヴァまで、曲調のバランスもとられており、アレンジに関しても、激しさを残しつつ前作までにあった粗さは無く、かといって過剰でもない。

ノエルの素晴らしいメロディ、リアムの歌（前作より上達している）、激しさ、優しさ、他のバンドが持ちえないスケール感、OASISの全てがつまっているアルバムだ。
最高！
