The Beatnutsの元メンバー、Fashion改めAl’Tariqが脱退後の1996年に発表した1stアルバム。元The Beatnutsという肩書きも空しく、あまり話題性のなかった作品だった。しかし、オリジナルメンバーであるPsycho LesとJujuがプロデュースやボーカル等でアルバム全体に携わっており、The Beatnutsの作品といっても過言ではない(何と、Interlude等を除き、プロデュース面はほぼThe Beatnuts名義!!)。そのため、本当に勿体ないと思ってしまう。もっと評価されるべきである。そういえば、Al’Tariqのように脱退後もオリジナルメンバーとの交流のあるアーティストは、意外と少ないのではないのだろうか。

1stシングル(5)Do Yo Thangと2ndシングル(13)Everybody’s Talkin’は必聴。The Beatnutsプロデュースの作品が多いからか、ファンキーなトラックとラップの調和がリスナーをそそる。(13)Everybody’s Talkin’は、Commonのトラックを手掛けていたNo I.D.がプロデュースを担当している。この曲でAl’Tariqは、「Fashionではなく、Al’Tariqがやる」と断言しているのだが、The Beatnutsからは完全に抜け切れていないように見えて仕方がない。だが、(14)Spectaclarを聴けば、彼の今後への野望が窺い知れる。この曲にはGod Connection名義で彼の新クルー達が多数参加しているのだ(Ploblemz、A-Massacre、Black Attack、Sk)。2000年には、God ConnectionのPloblemzとBlack Attackとの三人でMissin’ Linxとして『Exhibit A』というEPを出している(勿論、ゲストにJuju)。その後もDJ Honda、The Beatnuts等の作品に少なからず顔を出す彼だ。今は、充電期間だと思い、気長に次回作のリリースを待ちたい。

ちなみに、この作品の日本盤にはNikkiというボーナストラックがある。勿論、プロデュースはThe Beatnuts。

アルタリークa.k.aファッションのソロアルバム。ビートナッツを脱退していたときに製作されてますが、音のほうは全面的にジュジュとサイコレスがバックアップしてるので、ビートナッツのアルバムって感じもしないでも無いですが。他にもcommonのNO IDやVICが参加。ビートナッツにラップの多面性を求めている人がどれ位いるのかは分かりませんが、彼等の作品が好きな人なら聴いて損をするということはまず無いはず。相変わらずなネタ感を全面に出したモノもあれば、らしくないメロウな曲もあり、意外とバリエーションに飛んでいます。
